Don't forget.....

....... the new challenge

Colour Create Blinkie

starts tomorrow morning. I'm so excited that I probably won't sleep tonight. Don't forget to stop by the challenge site tomorrow.

One Stop Craft Challenge No 14

The more I look at this card, the more I like it. My daughter has already said that she 'needs' that card! lol! Well, if a 23 year old likes it, it can't be that bad.

I made this for Nikki's challenge on the One Stop Craft Challenge this week. The theme she set for us all is:

Buttons and Bows

Now, you don't have to use both on your card - but I went for broke.

This weeks prize has been donated by Shelley of One Stop Card Crafts and is a ....... Selection of embossing powders worth £10.00 So, grab your buttons and bows because that amount of embossing powders will keep you going for a long time!

I'm quite liking the 'not so straight line' doodling that I've been doing lately, so this card has a small amount of that on it. I should also let you know that all the black dots are actually Black Diamond Stickles - they really shine irl.

Ingredients:
Umount Creative Expressions Swirls stamp
Polka Dot ribbon
Black card
Purple Card
Black Diamond Stickles
Purple Ribbon
Papermaina buttons
Whiff of Joy Sentiment stamp
Ink it Up! Purple ink and Clear embossing powder

Another award

I am so overwhelemed with your wonderful generosity out there in blogland. My lovely friend Pauline had given me another award. Honestly - this is obscene for one blog to get so many awards in one week! But I really do appreciate it Pauline.

The rules are that I have to pass it on to 5 people.....so. as hard as it is, here are my 5 nominations:

Dawn

Hev

Heather

Polly

Challenge 4 at Charisma Cards

Oh! It's the fourth week of the Charisma Cardz Challenge and my goodness, hasn't it gone by so quickly - seems like only yesterday that we were waiting for Challenge No 1 to start. Today the Challenge has been set by Vee and this week she's set the theme of

Black and White and One Other Colour

I've used one of my favourite stamps on this card. I think this little lady is so versatile in terms of the colours you can use and the sentiments that it goes with.

I've even been very adventurous and twisted my own wire into the 'hello' sentiment. I'm rather pleased with the way that turned out.

I have decorated the inside but I forgot to photo it in daylight - and my camera is still playing up at night under the electric lighting.

Ingredients:
Dovecraft Chacoal Prints Paper pack
White paper run though the swiss dots folder
Black and Blue Card
Prima Got Flowers! Part Deux
Papermania Ribbon Brad
Anita's Stamp, stamped with StayzOn

Anita's Teal Spotted Ribbon
Artistic Wire - By the Dozen
Blue gems, Bright Blue Ink it Up! pad, Black Whispers Pen and Blue Watercolour Pencils

And Here's 3 More DT Calls!!!!

Valentine from freebies

I thought I would continue to use up some of the freebies given away in a couple of the magazines I bought this month. It really does make a change for me as I usually pop the freebies in a drawer and forget about them.

I'm entering this into the Spoon full of Sugar Challenge - their theme is Love is in the air. They want you to make a card for someone special. Well, this card will be given to my eldest daughter's partner so that he can send it to her. I think she's someone special so that should qualify for the challenge.

Apart from the hand sewn 'Kisses' around the outside, this was quite a quickie make.

Because of my hand sewn Kisses this card also qualifies for the ABC challenge, where the letter is X so they want to see an 'X' on your card somewhere. (Scraping that entry in by the skin of my teeth!)

I stamped the heart in Opaque White Stayzon onto acetate - hence the funny angle of the picture. It was the only way to stop the camera flash reflecting. Of course, because the flash went off you can't see that this is actually on 3 layers. Oh well, I'll try to get a daylight picture.

Here's part of the inside.

Ingredients:
Red papers free with Simply Cards and Papercraft Issue 54
Love word heart stamp free with Papercraft Inspirations Issue 57
Red Gems, White Candy heart, Lace Paper, Acetate, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Folder and Organza Ribbon from my stash
Inked with White Opaque Stayzon and Red Ink It Up! pad

Candy links

Well, I promised to be back with some candy links and here they are, fabulous candy from two amazingly talented people:

First up is Tara. She's celebrating 10,000 blog hits! Well done hun! I've already told people how in awe of her cards I've been since starting card making myself so I hope you make time to have a good nosey around her site when you pop over to see her amazing candy. There is basic grey, papermania, stamps, buttons, pins, eyelets, beads, brads. Wow! I'd love to win this one!

Then we have more amazing candy over at Katy's site. There is K & Co, Craftwork, Doodlebug - gems, stamps, charms and toppers and loads of other bits. Katy also has an amazing site with some of the best cards around. You really should look around her site too.

Sorry I can't put pictures of your candy on here at the moment - but I'm using my husband's laptop and I don't think he'd appreciate the pictures being saved on there!

Sharon

Now I've been tagged! - The Black Pearl

Okay, there is always a penance for getting an award, I thought. I'm bound to have to share tidbits of information with people or rack my brains for a funny answer to something. This time I was very pleasantly surprised. I don't have to do anything like that.

So, Thank you Donna and Leanne for passing this tag on to me - I like this one. The rules of this are you need to go to where you keep the photos on your computer, go to the 6th folder and then the sixth picture. You then upload it on your blog and write a bit about what is going on.

I was happy when my 6th folder turned out to be 'Holidays' then I started panicking about the final photo being one of me in a bikini - not a nice sight! But I got lucky. The 6th folder under Holidays was St Lucia 2004 and the 6th photo was a snapshot taken on a sunset cruise (I won that as a prize on day 1 of the holiday - lucky me!). During the cruise we spotted 'The Black Pearl' on the horizon with Cap'n Jack Sparrow on board (Steady now Tara!!). Now, you may need a magnifying glass - or zoom in on the picture, but I assure you there is a pirate ship on the horizon.

Ooohhhhh! a girl can dream can't she? For me Cap'n Jack will always be on board that ship. But if any of you have been to St Lucia you'll know it's just a tall ship that runs a sunset cruise from the main harbour.

Now I have to tag 5 other people to do the same.

So I tag:
Vee
Chris
Pauline
Karen
Heather

I'll be back later with some blog candy alerts.

So many awards! - Am I at the Oscars???

Oh WOW! This is incredible! You've all passed on SO MANY awards to me; I just can't believe it. Honestly, I go away for a couple of days and come back to a very humbling experience. You are such incredibly kind people out there in blog land - and you're all so talented that I truly do feel humbled by this. I thought I was at the Oscar nominations as I kept reading all your comments when I got home today!

Pick up a chair and get a cup of tea, or your chosen drink, because I think this is going to be a long old post.

The first award of the evening is the Kreativ Award.
The fabulously talented Clare Curd of Do Crafts (ooooh! do I feel special that she thought of me, or what??? Thanks hunny - I'm still hyperventilating), also a lovely, fun lady Faye, who is very talented with altered art and creative backgrounds, and my new blogging friend Nicola (more about her below) passed this beautiful award on to me.

Isn't that just a gorgeous award? Now I need to pass it on to 5 people so ......the nominations are....(drumroll)......Donna, Tara, Helen, Gina, Chris

Next up is the Marie Antoinette Award. A big thank you goes to Nicola for also thinking of me for this award. Nicola has only recently started blogging but her talent is shining through already.

I pass this beautiful Marie Antoinette award on to: Jo, Sarita, Katy, Tab, Vee

Then we have the beautiful Blog Award. This was passed to me by my lovely, talented new DT mate Heather. Thank you so much Heather, as usual it is a real honour to receive something from you.

My nominations for this award are: Clare Curd, Nicola, Paula, Faye, Judy,

Finally, as I'm a little behind with my blogging, I was recently passed these last 3 awards. As I've already received these final 3 and passed them on before, I won't pass them on again at this time (I'm running out of people!) However, if any of you lovely crafters visiting my blog do not have these already, please feel free to take them from this blog.

I'd like to thank Helen and Gina for this Encouraged award

Paula for this Butterfly Award

and Vee for this Kreativ Blogger award

I still can't believe this. You kindness is absolutely overwhelming and I'm chuffed to bits. Thank you all.

One Stop Craft Challenge

I'm afraid that this has had to be an automatic post because I'm away from the Internet at the moment (and away from my crafty things - so I'm probably driving myself and everyone around me completely mad!). Rest assured that I will be busy popping over to every one's blogs and publishing your comments on here the minute I get back.

The challenge this week at One Stop Craft Challenge has been set by Maggie, and her chosen theme is:

Charmed

I've taken a step away from the cutie images again and pulled out a Kodomo stamp which I coloured with different Whispers brush strokes pens, stamped the image and the added clear embossing powder to heat emboss the colours in place. I haven't tried this type of stamping before and I really do like the results.

Ingredients:
DCWV Pocket Full of Posies Papers
Kodomo Autumn Flowers Stamp Set
Clear Embossing powder (I hope)
HOTP Cardmakers Ribbons Earth Palette
Darice Charmed Embellishments

Tim Holtz Broken China Distress Ink

Papermania Ribbon brads

Exciting News!!!

I just had to share this exciting news with you all - it's okay, I do have permission. I still can't believe it myself and I think I've worn a groove in the carpet where I've danced up and down. Honestly - you'd think I was still a teenager sometimes.

My lovely, lovely friend Tara is starting up a new colour themed challenge blog called Colour Create and she's asked me to be on her DT! How good is that? I've been a fan of Tara's cards ever since I first joined the Do Crafts forum when I started making cards back in May last year. I was in awe of her talent from day one. And she has some fantastic members on her DT too. So I feel pleased as punch that she wants me on her team.

The purpose of the new challenge is to give everyone a different colour palette to work with each week - and you'll be able to combine this challenge with other challenges out there in blog land. So, if you're stuck for inspiration on a sketch or a theme - you could use the colour palette to help spark ideas.

Have a look at the challenge blog she's created. Why not become a follower? Her challenges will change every Sunday morning and will start in a couple of weeks.

Hope to see you all there!
Sharon

I'll be back

Just to let everyone know that I'll be away from blogland for a couple of days, although I do have some posts scheduled to pop up. As soon as I get back I'll post your comments and come over to visit your blogs again.
Sharon xx

Charisma Cardz Challenge 3

How many craft CDs do you have gathering dust? I only have 6 and they are hardly ever used, but I picked one out of my collection and instantly found what I needed for this week's Charisma Cardz Challenge.

Paula has chosen the theme this week and it is:

Love

There's some really beautiful inspiration from the DT this week. Pop on over and have a look at their cards and the prize.

I took these photos when my camera was playing up, so they are a little dark. The metal heart charm has 'Love' engraved on it and I hope it shows a little better in this close-up although I had to fade the colours a bit.

Ingredients:
Image from Joanna Sheen's Victorian Romance CD
Brown Card
Papermania Silk Screened Paper - Gold Ornate Metallic
Prima 'Got Flowers?' Fall # 3
Gold Liquid Pearls
Darice Charmed Embellishments Brass Words
Ribbon from stash
Brass star with swirls gifted to me by my friend Gina

Lili Of The Valley - Donalda's Sketch

When I saw that Donalda had put a sketch together for the Lili of the Valley Challenge I just had to make a card with it. .........But could I find my Lili fairies? Not on your life. I know they are in one of my drawers somewhere, but they must be playing hide and seek with me. Naughty fairies.

So, instead I used a Stampendous Stamp and made an Easter card with the layout. Hope you don't mind. It was a wonderful sketch to work with.
I also took a leaf out of Jacqui's (Cats Whiskers) book - she mentioned using up her scrap papers a few days ago on her blog, so that's exactly what I've done with this card. The image has been made 3d by stamping it twice and cutting out the doves on one image and attaching them with 3d foam pads

Items used:
Scrap Orange Card, Yellow paper run through the swiss dots folder, Orange DCWV Floral Prints large piece of scrap and Yellow DCWV Pocket full of Posies scrap.
Dovecraft square brads,
Nesties
Stampendous Glass Dove Window stamp
Red, orange and yellow ink pads
Prima flower, L-Em stamens punch and wire from my stash
Ribbon from a card bought at the local £1 shop
Computer printed sentiment
Watercolour pencils
Stickles (on the doves)

Secret Crafter Challenge 15

I tried to make a Love card for a man. Not sure if I succeeded. And my camera has decided to go haywire today and make all my cards look much brighter (in colours) than they actually are. I'll try to get a better picture in the daylight. I haven't taken a photo of the inside because of the way my camera is behaving.

This was made for the secret crafter challenge which is 'Hearts'.

Ingredients:
DCWV Once Upon a time, Basic Grey granola and Blossoms and Butterflies papers
Key hand cut from silver card.
String, gems and pearly doodles from my stash

4 lots of Candy News

I am so far behind on my postings about candy so (in order of their closing dates) here are several I've come across today.
Ewonne has an amazing candy draw too. There are border strips, Prima flowers, lace tulle...the list goes on and on. See the pic below and make sure you pop over to visit her before 25 January

Lorraine has some lovely Messy Rabbit and acrylic plates along with flowers, pens and bookings on her candy draw which is open till 29 January. She doesn't say that she is celebrating anything so maybe she is just a lovely lady (she strikes me that way from the lovely comments she makes).

Shelley has a wonderful assortment of goodies to help celebrate her first 1000 hits. This candy is open until 31 January. Her site includes lots of cards with step by step instructions so make sure you stop for a while and browse around.

Kim has some beautiful Basic Grey papers, and an Aladdin's cave of assorted ribbons, brads, buttons and pins in her candy. Now, I'm really late with this one - you probably all know about it already. Her candy is open until 31 Jan

Friday Sketchers 35 with a freebie

I've actually used a freebie from a magazine to make this card. I couldn't resist these little birds (free stamp from a set in February's Cardmaking and Papercraft). Normally the freebies end up being put in a draw somewhere and very rarely see the light of day - but I know I'll be keeping this set handy.

The layout is taken from an incredible sketch by the talented Murmur which is used for this weeks Friday Sketcher's challenge. It was a dream to use. I did have difficulty deciding whether to stamp the swirly bit, or to use a die cut, well, you can see which one won that decision.

I tried an angled shot to see if I have got the knack of showing the layers yet. Oh dear - I must try harder with those shots.

This does look a bit garish. It is bright in real life, but not quite as bright as the photos make it look here.
And the inside is finished off by masking half the stamp so that I only had one of the birds with ink on it.

Ingredients:
Papers: Basic Grey Sultry and DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies
Black and White Card
Pebbles Inc ribbon
Prima 'got flower' and making memories mini blossoms.
Sizzix Scribbles Swirls
WOJ sentiment

Freebie stamp from Cardmaking and Papercraft Feb 2009
Pearls, feathers and brads from my stash

Jo's Candy

Jo is celebrating her first blogoversary and reaching 10,000 hits with some gorgeous candy. Well done Jo! Her candy includes: a pad of 36 sheets of 6x6 assorted paper, a pack of green glitter alphabet stickers, Grand Adhesions brookfield words, Grand Adhesions daisies. Grand Adhesions butterflies and a pack of button brads. You have until 31 Jan to enter her candy draw.

My Egyptian Pyramid.

Well, I've been stretched outside my comfort zone for the second time this week and I'm so pleased with the results. I made this 'card' for the One Stop Craft Challenge and the theme has been set by Eleanor this week.

Originally the theme was going to be 'Craft Like An Egyptian' but we've widened it to 'Craft like an Egyptian and Other Countries' as not everyone will have Egyptian goodies. This week, the prize we have up for grabs is a Jolly Nation 'Friends' Rubber Stamp. This one is so useful for a variety of cards. The prize has been donated by Shelley from One Stop Card Crafts

I have left my DT card blank for the time being as I haven't decided what occasion to use this card for. Having said that, my eldest daughter loves it and wants to pinch it from me.

This card was inspired by a someting I saw on someones blog (sorry, I can't remember who it was now) but at the time I thought that it would make a fantastic pyramid. Thank you for the inspiration.

My card has been made from:
Hieroglyphic Backing Paper
Kanban Blue Egyptian Goddess Toppers
Kanban Egyptian Cartouche Toppers
Kanban Egyptian Adhesive Ribbons
DCWV Far East 8x8 Stack
Icy Ribbons Pack
Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink
Kodomo Autumn Flower Stamp Set
Dovecraft Metallic Eyelets

Charisma Cardz Challenge 2

Oh My Goodness! How popular was the Charisma Cardz Challenge in it's first week? Such an overwhelming response! The whole DT has been bowled over with the support this new challenge got from you all. So a big thank you from me, and from all the DT members too for taking the time to join in the challenge. It was amazing to visit all those blogs that I haven't come across before. You are all such a talented lot.

Anyway, here we are at week 2 and Leanne has set the challenge this week. Now, normally, I don't do these type of cards so it was a challenge for me too. Thanks Leanne - I enjoyed it once I got going. The theme she's chosen for this week is........fantasy.

This week's prize is sponsored by Crafty Muse and it's a download of their Princess Amber images. They are just so cute.

I raided my stash and found this fairy stick-on that I completely forgot I'd bought. Now I've found these you may be seeing a few more fairy cards from me.

Items used:
DCWV Once Upon A Time paper Stack
White Ostrich Feather
Prima Flowers
Creative Beading Pearls
Charming Embellishment, Words Charm
Create and Craft Fairy and dragonflies
Dove craft brads
Anything else is from my stash.

So come on everyone, break out all your fairies, unicorns and dragons and join in this week's challenge - we can't wait to see what you make this week.

Another award!

How special do I feel? Following quickly on the heels of the Encouraged award I received a couple of days ago is this really sweet award too! Thanks so much Pauline for thinking of me again. It is wonderful when the people you admire care enough to pass these beautiful awards on. Please visit Pauline's blog, she does some really pretty work and I love her cards.

The rules are to pass this on to 7 other bloggers. I know this will make it's way to some of the people I would love to have included in this list, but I wanted to pass the award to some different people this time. So here goes. I'm passing it on to:
Claudia Rosa, Jacqui, Karen, Vee, Lorraine, Paula and Sally-Ann

Also, I have to thank Vee for passing on the Encouraged award I received a couple of days ago to me too.

Little Lovin's Party Bag.

Here's a little bag I made with the little lovin's stamp for my second One Stop Card Crafts DT item this month. These bags make such good party favours and the image is so suited to a little girl's party. Although I had coloured the image intending to make a black and white item, I was beaten to that by one of my fellow DT members (her card is wonderful!). However, I think the black and white really stands out well against the lilac polka dot background on this card.

Obviously, I haven't invented these little bags and there are lots of tutorials around for them. My instructions can be found on the One Stop Card Crafts blog - if you're interested in trying them out, I'd love to know if you found them easy or if I could improve on them.

Whiff of Joy 13 with my new stamp

I so enjoyed making this card. I adore this mouse with his lovely cupcake. I think I need a little more practise colouring him in, but for my first attempt it's not too bad.
This was made for the Whiff of Joy Challenge 13 which is a sketch designed by Heather. I was very good for a change Heather and stuck closely to your sketch. The only 'twiddles' (as my family calls them) that I gave into was a bit of doodling and my fabby new flowers. Yeah - okay the flowers have been around for a while but I've only just managed to get my grubby mitts on some.

Don't you just love my mouse size sentiment? How cute is that?

Items used.
Buzzcraft papers
Blue and Purple card
Henry Celebrating Mouse WOJ stamp
Prima flowers - Got Flowers, Got Flowers part deux
Creative times Just pots Funky Flowers (the large dark blue ones)
Pink dovecraft brads
Ribbon and lace from my stash
Watercolour pencils and Tim Holtz broken China distress ink
Darice Charming Embellishments Brass Charms - Words
Stickles
Okay, so I haven't finished the card yet - I'm still doing the inside. But I wanted to post this to my blog before the last day of the WOJ challenge.

Oh! Another award

I have to thank my friend Tara for this gorgeous award. Honestly, this is so crazy....... she is one of the people that constantly encourages and inspires me and yet she's the one passing the award to me. How mad is that!! I am so chuffed to receive this from you Tara.

The rules are:
1) Post a link of the person who gave you this award
2) Nominate 5 other people and give a link to their sites
3) Let your nominators know that they got an award from you
4) Put a logo of the award on the blog

The hardest part is nominating people for the award. There are so many people that encourage me however I am going to give it to the ones that encourage me on an almost daily basis. So:

Pauline - a true friend and the person that got me into this blogging lark in the first place
Gina - the other friend that encouraged me to start adding swirls and things to my cards
Paula - for her daily encouragement and giggles in e-mails
Donna - for being strong and true when I start panicking about things
Carly - for encouraging me by making me her first guest DT

Hope you enjoy your award girls.

New WOJ sneek peek tonight

Just reminding everyone that Katharina is giving us a sneaky peek at the new WOJ Spring Stamp kit and pre-orders will be taken after her second post tonight. Make sure you don't miss out! Visit her blog because she's also going to give someone the chance to win a set of the stamps. (I'll probably be in bed when she does this - so good luck to all of you that enter).

One Stop Craft Challenge 11

Goodness me! It is Saturday already and here we are with the One Stop Craft Challenge again. The theme this week has been set by Donna. It's "Take a Punch!".

I was completely lost for inspiration initially until I saw a tutorial over at splitcoast stampers. I adore the spiral pop-up that I saw there so I thought I would try it on my take a punch card. This is the link to the tutorial: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/spiral_pop_up_card/

I have to show you the inside of the card first, because that is where all the action happens. I've used punches for the back petals of the flowers, the leaves and to make the ladybirds. My daughter needs a birthday card for 1 year old twins so I may just offer this up to her. After all, kids love primary colours don't they. I kept the front almost the same as the inside. It does mean that they will have to write their greeting on the back of the card, but I'm sure she won't mind.

Items used:
Blossoms and Butterflies Mat stack
X cut large circle punch
X cut flower punch
Leone Em Rock Fern punch
Nesties
Wire (for the antennaes)
Prima 'Got Flowers' for the centre of the flowers
Peel off sentiment
Black Whispers pen.
