Creative Card Crew Challenge 12

Here's another challenge that I missed making a DT card for last week. Never mind, back to normal now and I had time to do a card for this week. Paula has set the challenge at Creative Card Crew and she has chosen Pretty Flowers as the theme.

This card is going to the midwives at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital to say thank you to them for all the brilliant care they gave my daughter.

A big tin of Roses will be accompanying this card - well, they all deserve to be spoilt; they really were amazing.

Ingredients:
Core'dinations card - Ming
Making Memories Boho Chic Multipack Lauren - Fluer paper
Dovecraft Designer Templates - Tags
Large white daisy trim (RAK from Paula)
Small white daisy trim - Anita's adhesive ribbon
Prima Obsessions and Got flowers part deux flowers
Sentiments - Whiff of Joy and See D's
All other bits from my stash.
I hope you have time to pop over to the challenge blog to see all the other designer's cards; they are gorgeous.

Just Magnolia Challenge 6

Just Magnolia have asked us to 'Get In Shape' this week and make a shaped card. I've taken an easy route and tried out an arch shape. I know it's not very exciting, but I have so many Thank You cards to finish that this was the quickest way for me to link one up with a challenge. I took this angled photo to try to pick up the layers again. I think the shadows help to show them.
Ingredients:
Papers: Basic Grey
Tilda with Rose
Free swirl stamp from Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine
Anita's 'Thank You' stamp
Woodware Leaf Punch
Large Scallop Nesties
Promarkers, Brad, Pin Net and paper roses from my stash

Colour Create 17

I really missed not making a DT card for last weeks Colour Create Challenge....and I only just made this week's by the skin of my teeth, finishing it just after lunch yesterday! However, it looks like I was too late to get the card onto the challenge post. (Thanks for adding it to the challenge now Tara).

The talented Katy has set the challenge for us this week and I must say she has chosen some cracking colours - I had so much fun making my card and it actually seemed to make itself. Here's the photo Katy gave us for inspiration.

The colours are Lemon, Pink Sorbet and Chocolate - ooooooh what an ice cream lovers dream these are. The optional extra is 'Shabby Chic'. I do struggle with this style - I think I always get the shabby bit, but the chic is so hard to do for me.

I suppose the reason this card made itself so easily is because I set out to do a Thank You card dedicated to all you wonderful bloggers for your comments and e-mail support over the last week. Here's to all you wonderful people; thanks for keeping me sane.

He He! I just spotted all those daisies in my lawn in the photo! That's going to be a job for my hubby today.

Ingredients:
Papers - unknown - they were a RAK (but they are beautiful)
Nestie Labels
Penny Black - Kindness - sentiment stamp
Prima flowers
Woodware leaf punch
Tim Holtz Tattered Rose distress ink

We have some sad news that the amazing Kim is leaving the DT. I am so sad to see her go. She has been a real inspiration and has always given me wonderful support. Wishing you all the best Kim - I know we'll stay in touch.

I hope you'll have a look at the cards the rest of the DT have made this week. They make my jaw drop every week and they sure nailed that shabby chic look this week.

One Stop Craft Challenge 30

Hello everyone. Firstly a quick update on little baby Oscar. He is still stable and the special care nurses are pleased with his progress so far. He certainly is a little fighter. My daughter will be coming home from the hospital today which will be wonderful for Amelia; she has missed her Mummy but she has been an absolute angel for her Nanny during all the upset. Thanks to everyone for being patient with me throughout the trauma; I missed visiting your blogs and will do my best to get round to you all over the next few days.
Rightie-ho! I'm back making cards now so on to this week's One Stop Craft Challenge. Shelley has set the theme this week and she wants to see items that are:

Vintage

I love vintage cards although I sometimes end up with a really distressed card rather than a vintage look. I hope I've got the balance right this week.

I know it doesn't show up well in the photo, but the metal embellishment in the bottom left corner says 'friendship'.

Ingredients
Joanna Sheen Victorian Romance CD (topper and paper)
Brazzill Card in Brown and Cream
Prima Flowers

Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Vintage Photo
Pearlised brad, gems, metal charm and lace from my stash

A tiny, miracle baby is born!

Well, I said it would only be a matter of time.....little did know it would be mere hours!!!!

I'm so pleased to say that baby Oscar Benjamin arrived safe and sound at 5.28 am today, weighing in at a teeny, tiny 1lb 8oz. Mum and baby are doing well so far. Obviously there is a long, long way to go for baby Oscar, but he survived the birth really well (far more chilled out than his mum was), he looks physically okay and the first brain scan appears normal. He still seems chilled out in his incubator but he could do with a few prayers until he is out of the danger zone though.

Phew! One exhaused Nanny signing off for now - have to make loads of Thank you cards for the hospital staff and lots of welcome cards for the new baby. I do hope I have time to make my DT items for this weekend too, so I'm busy, busy, busy now.

An update

Thank you so much for all your kind comments. I have been so grateful to you all for your support and prayers. A few people have contacted me to ask for an update so I thought I'd write a short note. My daughter is still in hospital and still hanging on to the baby and today she made it into the 24th week of pregnancy. Every single day she hangs in there is a bonus to us. It is just a matter of time before she gives birth because the sac is ruptured and she is at least 3cm dilated. The poor girl is on complete bed rest - not allowed to even sit up yet alone get off the bed. But we are grateful for each day because it adds to the odds of the baby surviving.
I hope to be back crafting with you all soon - well as soon as I can get my energy levels up; I'd forgotten how exhausting looking after a 1 year old can be!
Please keep the prayers going for us.

A family crisis

I thought I should let people know why I seem to have fallen off the face of blog land for a while. My daughter, who is 23 weeks pregnant went into early labour and is having several complications. My days at the moment consist of trips to the hospital and looking after her 1 year old daughter. Needless to say, the last thing on my mind is crafting at the moment.

We're praying that she hangs on for at least a few more days to improve the chances of the babies survival. So I hope you can all find the time to say a few prayers for her and her unborn son.

I don't like washing my linen in public, but I absolutely hate to let people down. So, please accept my apologies if I don't get to your blogs this week to comment, and if I miss making a DT card or two. I'm sure you'll all understand.

Creative Card Crew - Minimal

My apologies for such a late posting. Circumstances just ran away with me yesterday and I didn't get time to schedule my post, then I've been really busy at work all day. I'm afraid tonight is another really busy one so I'll be playing catch-up with all my commenting tomorrow. Hope you don't all fall out with me.

Here is my card for this weeks Creative Card Crew Challenge. The talented Linda really set us a great challenge this week:

Minimal

I actually enjoyed throwing all the dps to one side and seeing what I could create with the least number things. So my card consists of one stamp, one flower and a few stick on pearls. You should see the amazing things the other DT ladies have made. There's some great inspiration for making your stash go further.

I apologise for the photo quality. I actually took about 25 photos of this card but I must have done something to the camera because half turned completely purple (the ones I took in sunlight) and the rest went black, white and grey (the ones I took inside during the day). This was the only one that came close to what the card looks like. I really must get a better camera or a new memory disk - I'm sure it's the disk that is the problem.

Ingredients:
Basic Grey Two Scoops Heart Smudge stamp
Colour Connection handcrafted rose
Papermania stick on pearls in white and purple
Ink it up Lavender ink

Colour Create 15

Good morning everyone. Hope you're all enjoying a lovely sunny day today. It's Sunday again so that means it's time for the next Colour Create Challenge. Our hostess this week is the wonderfully talented Heather and she has given us a gorgeous colour combo to work with. My card was made for my friend Paula's birthday yesterday and I'm pleased to say she likes it.
The inspiration was taken from this gorgeous photo to give the colour combo of Blue and Green. Our optional extra this week is paper piecing. I only paper pieced Tilda's dress and socks for this one. When I took my first photo is was a little overcast outside so this angled shot shows the card a little better. Well at least the stitching shows up better.

I kept the inside simple because there was so much going on in the front of the card and I wanted to show the beautiful papers off a little better.

Ingredients:
DCWV Far East 8" x 8" and the mat stack papers
Brazzill basics blue card
MS Doily Lace Punch
BossKut Daisy Leaves
Nesties Large Scallop Circles
Tiny balls for the wisteria (or grapes) from hobbycraft
Ribbons, Charm and wire from my stash.

We're also pleased that our GDT for May, Juliet, has accepted a place on the permanent design team. Welcome aboard hunny.

As always the rest of the DT have worked so hard and created some gorgeous cards again this week. We hope you'll find time to join us and as usual I'll do my best to visit each and every one of you that enters.
Rightie-ho, I'm off to spend the day working at home (very hard) to make sure I can hand my report in at work tomorrow morning. Hope eveyone else enjoys their day.

Oh! Cut it out! - One Stop Craft Challenge 28

Good morning peeps! Today is a special day for one of my fellow DT members on the One Stop Craft Challenge. So please excuse me while I say "Happy Birthday Paula". Hope you have a really special day hunny, and enjoy your breakfast, and your crafty pressies, and cards....and anything else you get. Hope it is special for you.

Right, onto the One Stop Craft challenge. I swapped weeks with Paula so that she could take it easy today. So I set the challenge and I said "Cut It Out!" Oh my! You can interpret that in so many ways ... apertures, pop-outs, twirlers, tunnel cards, decoupage. Part of the reasoning behind setting this challenge is that I'm sure most of us have some forgotten aperture cards lurking in the back of our stash and it's about time we brought them back into the daylight! I bet we'll be amazed by all your entries again this week. Don't forget, there is a GDT slot up as the prize.

My card is an aperture where the image comes through the hole - probably called a pop-through. The stamp I have used comes as part of the stamp set in the Zinnia flower fairy stamp kit (link is below). This stamp set is really worth the money - you get 12 different stamps and this includes 3 sentiments, 2 butterflies, 4 flowers, 2 fairies and some fairy dust (stars). I'm sure you'll be seeing more of this stamp set from me in the future. I used one of those sewing templates again - I really love these.
The image has been partly decoupaged (only 3 layers) and I also have some cut work as part of the sewing template.

Ingredients:
Brazzill basics string of pearls and brocade
Sewing template
Water colour pencils

Hope you have a look at the rest of the fab cards made by the DT here.
Now...if only I'd used a magnolia image. lol!

Whiff of Joy challenge 29

It has been a long time since I found the time to join in the Whiff of Joy challenge - I really do miss it. This week Katharina has put together a fab sketch and I loved using it I'm getting into practice for my hubby's birthday (15 May) so I thought I'd try a male card but, loving to break boundaries, I used peach and grey colours and added flowers to it. Actually, I think this is more suited to a bride giving it to her groom on the wedding day.
Here's the angled view, complete with a good shot of some of the 3d foam pads. lol. And this is the inside.
Ingredients:
Whiff of Joy Charlie Stamp and sentiment
Laura Ashley, Brazzill Basics and Papermania papers
MS Embossed Diamond Punch
L-Em Ash Branch Punch
X-cut flower punch
Papermania stick-on pearls
Anita's stick on ribbon (daisies)
Nestie's Lables.......
........and a really broken down old sewing machine that won't sew for toffee!

Just Magnolia Week 3

I'm off to the hospital for a routine procedure today, and I hope I'm not too groggy from the sedation when I get home...but just in case I am, I thought I'd better do this quick post before I head off.

This is my entry for the Just Magnolia challenge and Bev's sketch this week is a dream to work with. I really enjoyed making this card. I was hoping to pick up that Tilda and the matting behind her is on 3 levels with this photo. Not sure I managed that though.
Here's the inside - left blank for the time being until I know who I'm going to give this card to.

Creative Card Crew Challenge 9

It's week 9 at Creative Card Crew Challenge and the lovely Linda has set this week's challenge for us. But first of all I'd like to thank everyone who used the sketch last week. You made some really lovely items with it. We're also joined this week by Linnie who has a 2 week GDT slot with us. Welcome Linnie.

Anyway, on to this week. I just know there are so many possibilities with this theme and I'm sure you'll wow us with your creations. Linda said "Let's see some embossing".

I kept my card fairly simple opting for inking and heat embossing on the blank card stock and on the sentiment. Ingredients:
Laura Ashley Connemara Stamp and Whiff of Joy Sentiment stamp inked with Marvy Blending Blox "Shades of Pink" and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
Papers from the DCWV Far East Mat Stack.
Martha Stewart Doily Lace punch
Nesites Label
MIC Pink Rosebud
Pink candy hearts and thin pink satin ribbon.

Hope you'll take a look at the items the other DT members have made, they are beautiful. And I hope you'll find time to join us.

Who wants some Copics? and Henry is 3

We were set a DT challenge at Creative Card Crew to create a card for a 3 year old girl. Now, I don't really do children's cards so I found this so hard to do. For a start, no princess images and all my fairies were a bit too grown up.

So, I altered Henry Mouse from Whiff of Joy so that his cupcake had 3 candles on it. I was pleased with the way that turned out. Then I figured, if it is pink and sparkles it'd probably be okay for a 3 year old girl.

I used the sketch layout that was on a challenge blog a few months ago. I just love this layout but I can't remember which challenge it was from now. To show all the sparkles on the glitter card and the stickles on the image I had to lie the card down flat.

Don't you just love that Inkadinkado stamped sentiment on the inside - how cute is that?

Now, those of you following the blog candy hop that Tasha has put together are probably dying to get your hands on this fantastic stash aren't you? I'm sure you are, because everyone seems to be keeping a bit quiet about it (I haven't seen many people telling others) lol! What are you all like? ;o)

The blog hop started with Tasha oVer at Millie's Magical Moments where you will find the rules, it was picked up by Joey , then Linda and yesterday it made it's way to Paula.

Now it is my turn to pick it up. Hope you'll go Visit the CreatiVe Card Crew Challenge blog tomorrow for our next challenge. And good luck with the Blog Candy.

Colour Create 14

Good Morning Everyone. Hope you're all having a great weekend. I'll try not to rabbit on too much in this post - lots of pics to show.

Well, it's Sunday so that means it is Colour Create Challenge time again. The incredibly talented Mina has chosen our colours this week and given us this scrummy picture for inspiration.

The colours are Chocolate, Cream and Red and our optional extra this week is ribbons.

Well, what's a girl to do faced with a yummy picture like that? I went down that chocolate route so fast you didn't see me for dust! I grabbed the nearest box and started altering it so that I could fill it with yummy chocolates.

The trouble is....

......I ate all the chocolates (hangs head in shame!) This week we're joined by the lovely Juliet, who will be our guest designer for May. Welcome aboard Juliet.

The sad news is that Sarita has had to step down from the DT for a while due to non-crafting commitments. We'll really miss you Sarita; you've given us so much inspiration, so please hurry back. Wishing you loads of luck in the meantime.

Ingredients:Once Upon A Time paper
Penny Black Love-tail stamp
Cream paper roses, inked with red ink and stickled. Leaves made with an X-cut Daisy die.
Anita's sticky ribbon (red daisy trim)
Everything else from my stash

As always, there is some delicious inspiration in all the amazing makes the rest of the DT have put together. Hope you can join us this week.

One Stop Craft Challenge 27

Woo hoo! It's a bank holiday weekend so, for me, that means an extra day of crafting. Hope you all enjoy your weekend, whatever you are up to. Today it is the One Stop Craft Challenge and Nikki has set a great sketch for us this week.

I hope I can be forgiven for using this image twice in one week - but it does lend itself so well to circular elements. Besides, I went for the full colour option today instead of just the black lines.

I thought I would try something a bit different with the sketch so this second card is without an image and only uses a couple of strips of paper.

Ingredients:
TOP CARD
Creative Expressions Sentiment stamp
Papermania papers
Raffia Ribbon and Satin Ribbon
Star buttons, Gold Brads, Yellow Card
Nesties
ProMarkers
BOTTOM CARD
Prima Obbessions flower
Paper scraps from my scrap box
Whiff of Joy Sentiment
Nesties
Tim Holtz distress ink - Pine Needles
Black stick-on pearls and ribbon from stash.
