A house, some angels, and a mishap

Good morning everyone. This will be a short(ish) post which I will update later today with the items used. It's Tuesday, so that means it is Creative Card Crew Challenge day. The fab Paula has chosen the theme this week and she's chosen
All That Sparkles!
So, bling it on! Let's see those glittery and sparkly projects I usually go way over the top with glitter, so I tried really hard to contain myself. My first project was this little Doodlebug Design house. I only used glitter on the roof and chimney and there are some gems in the tiny heart decorations.

I enjoyed making the house, but as I brought it downstairs to photograph it I dropped it! You know that slow motion "oooooooooh noooooo" moment? It lasted a lifetime as I stared in horror from the landing as the house hit every single stair in my home on the way down! The chimney fell off and it definitely suffered a little bit of bruising. So please forgive its slightly battered appearance.

Luckily I'd also made this little box with a sweet little angel on the outside.......

..... and a blushing one with her slipped halo on the inside (she must have scoffed all the chocolates!)

We're sponsored today by the Crafty Pad.
Please pop over to the challenge to see all the wonderful things my fellow teamies have made.
Thanks for looking,

Summer is still here!

This is one more attempt at keeping summer alive for a little while longer. Yes, we're all heading off into those Autumnal colours and winter sparkly snowflakes at a fast pace, aren't we? Don't get me wrong....Autumnal colours are some of my favourites and I love a bit of Christmas bling too....but at the same time, it is so nice to have happy, sunny colours.

This card has been made for my One Stop Craft Challenge DT card. Shelley has picked the theme of 'Die Cuts' for the challenge and I was so pleased that she did. I didn't have time to make a card for the ABC challenge when they chose die cuts, and I so wanted to keep up with their alphabet, so in a roundabout way I've now caught up. ;o)

The die cuts that I've used on this card are the daisy flowers and leaves as well as the nesties.

I did a bit of curling on the daisies and leaves to make them a bit more interesting. They look good in close up, don't they? Although it doesn't show too well, the nesties are raised on 3d foam pads. I haven't added a sentiment yet - all I did add was a '4 U' on the tag on Tilda's flowers.

And, here's the inside. The paper doesn't have a flaw and it is flush to the card - those light streaks are part of the design because they appear on all the same patterned papers in the pad.
Items used:
Tilda with Roses stamp coloured with promarkers
Dies: Nesties Labels, Bosskut Daisy Leaves,
The daisy die is an X-cut one I think (I threw away the packaging and there is nothing on the die to tell me)
Paper Cellar Victorian Classic paper
Kanban bling gems
Pearls and ribbon from my stash
I hope you'll be able to join us this week.

Two favourite combinations

Warning: if you haven't eaten yet this blog post could be hazardous to your health. You'll be craving sweet, chocolaty, sugary things when you see the wonderful picture that Di has given us for inspiration at the Colour Create Challenge. Isn't it scrummy? The colours she's chosen for the challenge are HOT PINK, DUSKY PINK and ICE CHOCOLATE. What a winning combination that is!

The optional extra is Pearls and Swirls. That's another of my favourites.

All the girls on the design team have made the most amazing creations - but I think Deanne went into overdrive this week - there was just no stopping her!!! ;o) (Oh to have that much mojo in you). Please do take a look at their sensational work.

Here is the card that I made (I may have gone a bit overboard with the pearls - but who cares? I like pearls)

Items used:
Uh oh! I fought it off - honest I did! Bearly Mine papers.
Brazill Basics - London Fog and In The Pink.
Stamps - TGF Miss Anya, Butterfly stamp from Daisy & Dandelion set, Studio G So Sweet, Creative Expressions Corner swirl stamp
Brushed Corduroy Distress ink, Promarkers
Hobbycraft tiny pink pearls and fuschia roses
Everything else from my stash.

We have a $25 credit voucher for the winner this week kindly donated by Heidi from
Simon Says Stamp!

Hope to see you all at the challenge!

Inside and out

Today's Creative Card Crew Challenge has been set by the lovely Sam and, even though I have continued to do this throughout the year, I've stopped showing everyone on this blog. Maybe this challenge will make me start showing these additional shots again.

The challenge that Sam has set us is to decorate the inside of our cards.

This week we are sponsored by Whiff of Joy Stamps. I chose one of my favourite Whiff of Joy stamps, Willow with lantern, and tried to shade it a bit differently. I was trying to get the effect of the light coming off the lantern and I carried this through to the distressing on the background of the image so that the darker shades are behind her and the lighter shades are in front. Has it worked? Here is how I decorated the inside of this one.
Items used:
Stamps: Whiff of Joy - Willow with Lantern, Papermania Joyeux Noel Trees, Woodware Merry Christmas sentiment
Embossing: Silver tinsel embossing powder
Colours: Broken China and Black Soot distress inks, Promarkers, stickles
Papers: Paper Cellar Victorian Classic and Anita's classic Christmas Blue Papers (the musical score)
Punches: X-cut snowflake punch
Flowers: Hobbycraft blue roses, Prima silver holly leaves. The rest of the flower combo, pearls, lace and ribbon from my stash

Do take a look at the challenge. I swear the ladies on the DT get better and better every single week. This weeks cards are absolutely gorgeous.

A lion - with love

Is it Monday already? Where did that weekend fly to? Well, here we go, off on another week of working. Never mind, it pays for all the crafty stuff (and my blog candy).

Today's card is for the Creative Inspirations challenge - which very appropriately this week has a challenge of 'animals'. I think my lion fits the bill perfectly. Well, I think my mojo was still flowing when I made this card. I actually really enjoyed making this one. Items used:
Papermania Exquisite paper
Whimsy Lion stamp
Hampton Art Love Fluff Large stamp (underneath the feathers)
My peg stamp was used for the border
Scribbles Swirl die cut (Hey - I made the ABC challenge 'D for Die cuts' card at last!)

Lace, feathers and ribbon from my stash
Brushed Corduroy distress ink

Hope you all have a great week.

Just Magnolia challenge 23

Woo Hoo! I had time to make a card for the Just Magnolia challenge. Actually, it was an absolute necessity because my mojo went for a long wander last week; I just knew that it wouldn't be able to resist a bit of Magnolia and some beige and dusky colours to bring it running back!

This week's Just Magnolia challenge is a sketch by the lovely Bev. It was great to work with this sketch and everything just fell into place with this card.

The papers I've used are a combination of Papermania Exquisite (beige papers) and Paper Cellar Victorian Burgundy. I need to add to my friendship cards so I used a clear stamp set with 'My Friend'. The edges of the beige papers have been stamped with the edge of a Hampton Art 'Love Fluff Large stamp inked up with a Whispers pen. The large roses are from Hobby craft, but I can't remember where I got the small rosebuds from. Lace is from a local haberdashery shop. Pearls and tiny bit of feather I found in my stash. Tilda has been coloured with Promarkers.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and thanks for looking.

Beary Nice Popcorn

I didn't think I'd be saying this today, but .... thank goodness it is the weekend! I thought I'd be all back to normal by now, but work has been so busy this week that I only managed a couple of days of normality. So, off I go to play catch-up with all my commenting today.

Right, today's challenge is the One Stop Craft Challenge and I got to pick the theme this week. I chose 'Beary Nice' and Shelley has picked this fab Popcorn the Bear stamps set as a prize to fit with the challenge. I love this one - all those sunflowers are gorgeous. Here's the card I made. Can you tell I started off with a square card but changed my mind half way through? lol. I also thought I'd try to use up some of those peel-offs that I'm sure we all have laying around. I actually quite like the effect they made on this card when teamed up with some bling gems.
Here's a close-up of the bow and you can also see how I added bling gems to the bow and the peel-offs

Items used
Popcorn Bear Fishing Stamp Set
Burgundy Card from a 10 pack
Silver Ribbon
Border and Corner peel-offs

Rained Off

My goodness; what a downpour we had over here in the south of the UK last night. I left work only to find the city I work in at absolute gridlock and it took ages to get home. I don't think there were any road accidents and I'm sure it was just the rain causing chaos.

Anyway, by the time I got home it was dark (and very wet outside) so I couldn't take a photo of my card for today. I'll be back later with it.

Then my youngest daughter hogged the PC all night, so no blogging from me either. Sorry.

See you later,

My image organiser

Good morning everyone. I've got something to show you today that isn't a card, it's something that I really enjoyed making and I actually like the end result. Now that makes a change!

This little project was made for the Creative Card Crew Challenge. We have a recipe this week and one of our new girls, Claire, picked the ingredients. When I first saw the list I went (gulp) how can I get all that into one design? Well, let me tell you, it was easy peasy. I won't spoil the surprise - hop over to the challenge blog to get the recipe.....and while you're there have a look at the beautiful makes the rest of the lovely DT have made for you.

We have another member on the DT this week. So a big welcome and {{Wave}} goes out to Donna. I just know you'll love her clean, crisp style of cards. What an inspiration she's going to be to you all.

Okay, this is my little image organiser. I first saw one of these projects over at Victoria's blog and I fell in love with it straight away. So, off I trotted to buy myself one of those templates. Thanks Victoria! I love people helping me to spend my money ;o)

This now sits proudly on my craft desk and I slot my images in for the weeks makes into the little compartments (I pencil on the back which challenge each image is for). Talk about getting myself organised!!

I've done it again - The Bearly Mine CDs came out once again (promise I'll use some different papers tomorrow). I inked the edges with Tim Holz Broken China distress ink. The flowers are a mix of Papermania and Making Memories. The ribbon is a Celebrate one (I left it loose in the middle so that I can slip the edge of the lid underneath to keep it closed). Flower brads, gems and button are Papermania and the leaf punch is a Woodware one. The template is called 'Card Couture' from Papertrey Ink.

I hope this has inspired you to have a go at our recipe this week. There's a prize up for grabs from

and this is what you could win

Two cards from me today

Well, I need to get these two cards onto my blog because I'll miss the challenges if I wait till Wednesday.
The first card is for Whiff of Joy challenge - the colours - Orange and Teal.
The second card is for A Spoonfull of Sugar challenge - a sketch.

Wow! aren't these colours magnificent together? I love this combo. I've used one of the older Willow images (Willow with umbrella) because I love this one and the way the sentiment fits it so well.

The close-up shows the leaves that I made from a snowflake punch. Well, needs must and all that. I hope it also shows the stickles on the flowers and you may just be able to see them on the raindrops (makes a change from me using glossy accents). Bet you can't guess what papers I used on this one..... yep, they are bearly mine again.

Here is my second card for A Spoonfull of Sugar challenge. This one uses the Papermania Christmas papers from last year. You can see the snowflake in tact on this card. The image is Penny Black 'You Make Me Blush'. Oh my goodness, I can't believe I didn't stickle or glamour dust the snowman for a change.
Both card images have been coloured with Promarkers.

My Blogoversary Candy

It was my first blogoversary on 7 Sept - my how time flies! I've had the most amazing year and count myself so lucky to have met (even if only in cyberspace) all you wonderful crafty friends. You have kept me going through the good times and the bad and I thank you so much for your continued support.

So what happened to me in a year? I have been incredibly lucky to have made it onto the following design teams (these are in reverse order):
Whimsy Stamps / Creative Card Crew Challenge / Colour Create Challenge / Charisma Cardz Challenge / One Stop Craft Challenge / One Stop Craft Store
Phew! For a crafter with no confidence in her own work I think I've done okay!

And I can tell you - I've had a fantastic time turning out the crafty makes, entering challenges, learning all the time about new techniques and styles from visiting all your blogs.

Okay, so what is in the candy?

  • A Rubber Stampede Santa Collage Stamp - Yes - you are seeing correctly....I'm giving away one of those Santa stamps!
  • A Papermania 'Deck The Halls' Clear stamp set
  • Joyeaux Noel 6x6 Paper Pack
  • 2 x Snowflake Punches
  • A 3 pack ink pad set - Red, Green and Black
  • 2x Glitz it Glitter pots - Red and Gold

Now, to win the candy

  • Please spread the word about my candy on your blog. If you'd like to do a post about it I'd be really happy, but linking on the sidebar is fine.
  • Link your blog up in Mr linky below. To be fair on every one only one entry per person will be counted
  • and that's all there is to it.

Mr Linky will close at 9pm (UK time) on Saturday 26th September 2009, and the winner will be announced on the following day.

THIS CANDY CLOSED at 9 p.m. UK time 26 September

A 2 challenge card and my blog candy news

First - the candy news. I will be having 3 lots of candy giveaways over the next few weeks.
  • The first will be for my blogoversary (I missed that on 7 Sept) but I need one more item to add to that candy before I take a picture, so I'll probably post it some time tomorrow.
  • Next weekend I'll post some more candy because I've just noticed I've reached 10,000 unique hits on this blog.
  • Then, the weekend after that I'll post some more candy because it will be fast approaching my 50th birthday. For some perverse reason I'm looking forward to this one, so I'm going to celebrate with you all.

Right, on to my 2 challenge card. This one is for
Inspirational Card Sketches No 33 (the sketch layout)
Lili of the Valley - Colour challenge - Orange, Green and Brown.
I adore this Whimsy Princess Coach stamp because I think it is so pretty. It was the perfect image to use for the colours picked by LOTV this week. The papers are from bearly mine again(Sorry, I just can't get enough of these).

Well, my first, almost normal weekend day for a few months is nearly over now. I've been busy trying to get round to all your blogs (spent 5 hours commenting today!). If I haven't reached you yet, please be patient because I have 4 months worth of catching up to do...and I will get around to visiting you soon.

Thanks for looking,
Sharon xx

Let it snow

What a fab theme that is. I love snowy cards so I really got stuck in with this one. I actually picked out one of the first stamps I ever bought (last year) to make this card. I had no idea if I'd like stamping, but I bought a whole box of mini stamps anyway. What are we crafters like? Actually, I bet most of you are much more sensible than I am.I was so pleased that the photo I took really brought out the 3D-ness of the snowflakes.
This is my DT card I made for today's One Stop Craft challenge and the lovely Paula picked the 'Let it snow' theme. This weeks prize is an Artsy Collage Nostalgic Christmas Paper Art images pad. Do pop over to the challenge to see the fab snow cards made by the rest of the DT.

Thanks for looking.

A 3 challenge card and.....guess who's home?

I'm feeling a bit better today so I pushed the boat out and made a card for 3 challenges. This one is for:

Sketch and Stash - the sketch and the new items are the heart shaped brads
Penny Black - Hearts Desire
My time to craft - Polkadots

I've also used some neglected stash on this card. Those papermania Scrumptious papers have been sitting around for ages feeling all forlorn so I decided to brush off the dust and give them an airing. The Penny black stamp is called Hearts Away and it has been coloured with my trusty promarkers (I really like these now).

So, guess who came home last Sunday afternoon?
Yes, Oscar is out of hospital at long last. It's been a long old slog since he was born on 20 May but at last my daughter can settle down into a proper family routine (and so can I!). Sorry I haven't let you all know before now, but put it down to me being poorly this week. He's doing so well still and is almost the size of a real baby now - he weighs 4lb 12oz. What great news.

3 makes in Neon Green and Black

Another quick-ish post because I am still poorly and I'm struggling with the PC screen. I made 3 items for the Colour Create challenge - and I'm so pleased that I made them last week, otherwise I would have had nothing to post today.

The wonderfully talented Jo has chosen the colours and theme this week.

The first makes are in the bottom photo. They look lovely but I felt they were a little too plain. So, when I saw all the fab Halloween makes some of my fellow DT colleagues made, I just had to get out this Kerry Jo image. I've also drawn lots of spiders in the swirls and stickled the leaves in the swirls too.

Here is the picture Jo gave us for inspiration:The colours are Neon Green and Black. The optional extras are leaves and a charm.

The picture made me think of the 20's with that lovely cocktail. So the first items I made are a mix of Art deco shapes and Art Nouveau stamps. I do like to mix it up a bit! The template for the bag is a papertrey ink template - and can be purchased here.

We're sponsored by Whiff of Joy stamps this week. Please pop over to the blog to see the fantastic and amazing creations that the rest of the DT have made - they are awesome.

A Teddy For Paige

Here is the card that I made for Paige and some info on how you can help pay for her medical bills with this fab digital image.

Paige was seriously injured in a boating accident that very sadly has left her with the loss of part of her arm. If you want to read the article about Paige, please visit Erin blog.

The image I have used is called "A Teddy for Paige".

This digital image was created by Whimsy Stamps in honour of Paige and all the proceeds from the sales of this digital image go to Paige's foundation to help pay her medical bills. What a wonderful way to help Paige and her family

You can purchase this digital image by clicking on this link - and it only costs $3. That is so cheap!

Whimsy Stamps would love to sell as many of these images as possible to help Paige and her family. What a great cause and a really cute stamp. I hope you will all find room in your hearts and purses to buy this digital image and help Paige's family pay for her medical bills.

I've used the layout from the Papertake Challenge for my card. I hope some of the people that visit my blog as a result of this challenge will want to help this little girl too.

Thanks for looking,
Sharon xx

Been under the weather - and a fairy

So sorry for this late posting of my Creative Card Crew DT card. I'm afraid I've been seriously under the weather this week. The computer screen is still making me feel really queasy so this is a short post with more photos than writing.

Please pop over to the challenge blog to see the fantastic creations by my DT colleagues. The challenge theme this week is 'Have a fairy nice day' and it has been set by the lovely Linda.

The prize this week is from Lilac Lemon Designs and they have given us some lovely stamps to give away.

Some of the DT members wanted to know about the stamp I used. Well, it was a freebie with Papercraft Inspirations last month - and I bet most of them have it in their stash. lol! I just layered it up a few times.
The butterflies are punched and I stamped a lacy pattern on them with white stayzon. They look pretty in real life.

Thanks for looking

Cosmic Flowers

Recognise those flowers? If you've been over to Rach's blog recently you'll have seen she has a fantastic video tutorial on how to make them. I only had one of the retro punch shapes that she uses, but I tried the technique out with 2 Woodware flower punches and I extended the technique to include the Woodware punched leaves too.

I haven't got around to buying any glimmer mists yet - so out came my Cosmic Shimmer instead and I spritzed (believe me it was a spritz and not a soak) with that instead. I quite like the effect because it looks all pearly. Do have a go at these flowers if you can; they look fabulous up close.

Thanks so much for the tutorial Rach.

Okay, so this card is my DT item for the One Stop Craft Challenge which this week is a sketch that has been set by the lovely Nikki.

And we have a lovely stamp set as a prize this week, donated by Shelley.

Hope you'll get time to join us, and remember to visit the challenge blog for more inspiration from the DT.

Thanks for looking,

Sharon xx

Summer Sun

Fed up with the rain? (It's been raining a lot in the UK over the past couple of days). I am, so last night I made this card to remind me of the warm and cosy glow of a summery day.

I've made this card for the Whiff of Joy challenge which this week has a wonderful sketch by Bev. It was a dream to work with. For a change I stayed away from white card stock for the card blank and went with a bold orange instead. Like the flowers? I bought a nifty little flower loom yesterday and I love the way these little beauties turn out.
Items used:
Whiff of Joy - Willow with hot chocolate and a WOJ sentiment stamp
Papers: DCWV Far East Mat Stack. Scrapperdashery - Shakespeare - Twelfth Night
MS Doiley Lace Punch
ProMarkers. Tim Holtz spiced marmalade and mustard seed distress inks
The rest is from my stash.

Thanks for looking,

Make a card for Paige

I just had to let you all know about this really worthwhile cause that my fellow DT colleague is involved in. Erin is calling for us all to make a card for a very poorly little girl and her family. Erin's neighbour, Paige (aged 12), was in a serious boating accident and has lost part of her arm.

You can read the whole story on Erin's blog and there is also a link to the newspaper article.

Please do what you can to make a card for this little girl and send it over to Erin; she has offered up some fabulous blog candy in her effort to reach 100 cards.

I'll be back later today with a card.

DT Calls - a - plenty

Hi folks. Wow - those DT calls are coming thick and fast at the moment! This is just a reminder that I'm constantly updating my sidebar with all the DT calls I come across for anyone interested in having a try-out. At the moment I seem to be adding a link on a daily basis!

Sorry, no card from me today - I got caught up in other stuff last night. But I will be back real soon with another creative make.

Whimsical Christmas

Hello everyone. Can I just say a quick 'Woo Hoo!'....... Today is my first official day on the Whimsy Stamps design team. It seems like I've been waiting for ages for this day. ;o)

It's also Tuesday so that means it is Creative Card Crew Challenge day. This week we have a colour combo for you of:

Pink, Black and White.

And, as if that isn't enough, we also have 2 very talented ladies who have agreed to join our permanent design team this week. So a big wave goes out to Claire and Sam. These lovely ladies will both be a great asset to the team. Their cards this week are so beautiful.

I decided that I've made too many square cards recently so I made a cracker shaped card and a double pocket gift bag.

Okay, I know they look a bit small in this photo, so here's a better view.

Yep! You guessed it....I made the 'dangly things' myself.

and here is the inside of the card. I decided not to use the lace inside because it would be difficult to close, so I used the stick on daisy ribbon instead.
Items used:
Bearly Mine papers
Brazzil Card stock
Whimsy Penguin and Seal stamp
All other bits are from my craft stock.
We are sponsored by Whimsy stamps today

and the fabulous prize that Denise has given us is a Pyjama Emma stamp and the Wedding Cake and Kisses digital download.

Please take a look at the wonderful cards the rest of our talented design team have made over at the challenge blog.

Thanks for looking and I hope you get time to join us this week.
