Pearls and Swirls

I'm a little late posting this card because I forgot to pre-schedule it. Doh! It's turning out to be one of those mad busy weeks again and I'm starting to forget to do things. Oh well, after today where I have my Mum, Dad and Sister coming to visit, things should start to calm down again.

Today's card is on the theme of Pearls and Swirls for the One Stop Craft challenge. We have the new DT members joining in for this challenge and they have made some really beautiful creations. There is some amazing talent in the DT so it is worth popping over to the challenge blog. Please take the time to have a look at their projects.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:

Stamp Something - a recipe challenge

Sweet Stampin Challenge - pimp your card

Little Paper Shop - Swirls (on the DP) Items used:

Papers - the Paper Cellar

Whimsy digi stamp

Whimsy ticket stamp and sentiment

Simple Inspiration

My projects today are along the lines of KISS (Keep it simple, sweetie) or CAS (Clean and Simple). That's not the theme of the challenge that it's for - it's just how the challenge theme inspired me.

Today's Frosted Designs Challenge is a photo inspiration challenge. If you hop over to the challenge blog you'll be able to see the inspiration photo and it'll become obvious how I took inspiration from it! I'm entering these into the following challenges:

Secret Crafter Challenge - No Patterned Paper

Pixiedust Studio Challenge - Going Round and Round (the round flower shapes)

Die Cut Dreams - Words, no stamped images

C.R.A.F.T challenge - Blue and Green

I was so inspired to make my own flowers that I just waded in and cut up bits of blue card until I was happy with the outer shape, then I added some distress ink and Marshmallow glimmermist. The inner part is made with circle nesties that I just fringed. Simples!

Please take a look at the challenge blog to see the inspiration photo and view the work of the rest of the talented DT.

A hidden message and some candy

Well, I'm back home now and firstly I'd like to thank everyone for the wonderful e-mails and the kind comments and wishes sent to me and my family; all your prayers and kindness have overwhelmed us and they meant so much to us. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Now I am back it'll probably take a few days to settle in and get back into the crafting swing of things, but there are a few items coming to this blog during this week. Here is the first one.

Today at the Pixie Cottage challenge we're joined by the fabulous Bev Rochester as our guest designer. She's created a wonderful sketch for us and the theme chosen to go with it is to make a pocket or a tag. Remember that you can chose to do the sketch, the theme or, if you're feeling adventurous, you can do both.

While you're over at the challenge site - make sure you enter the blog candy draw of some wedding images drawn by ArTish; they are gorgeous.

I'm entering this into :

Passion for Promarkers 53 - Anniversary week - Anything Goes

Stamp Something - 2 of something (I have a few 2s - 2 patterned papers, 2 scallop circles, 2 woven ribbons)

One Stitch At A Time - Furry Friends

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge - Blogoversary, Celebrate/Birthday

My card uses one of the new stamps designed by Di Carubia called Baby Maisy; isn't she a cutie?

I made a pocket with the green patterned paper that runs across the card and slipped a sentiment on the back of the circular element that slips inside the pocket.

Items used:
Stamps: Baby Maisy
DCWV Linen Closet paper stack
Prima painterly Petals Hydrangeas
Tim Holtz Old Paper and Antique Linen distress ink pads
Promarkers
Thin Satin Ribbon
Pearls

Thanks for looking.

Sandblasted!

I've finally got away from blue and headed into the pink zone. This is one of my favourite colour combos; Pink, Black and White. I always think cards look so pretty in those colours. This is my DT card for Frosted Designs where we have the superb challenge of 'Sanding' this week.

I'm also entering this card into:

Truly Scrumptious - A sketch and hidden message

For the sanding I took a piece of black co'ordinations paper, ran it through a cuttlebug embossing folder, sanded it and then punched out the black flowers. I like the effect this creates so I may do more of this type of thing.

I've used the new Whimsy Stamps digi image called Gracie's roses and teamed her up with one of the matching sentiments. She is such a beautiful image!

Items used: Whimsy Stamps, Gracie's Roses and Gracie's Roses sentiment
Papermania Time Capsule papers
Promarkers
Distress inks: Tattered Rose and Black Soot
Punches: Martha Stewart and Hobbycraft
White daisies were a RAK (found those when tidying my craft room!)
everything else is from my stash.

Please pop over to the Frosted Designs blog to see the amazing makes from the DT and maybe even pick up some tips on using sanding on your projects.

DT Call for Colour Create

Good morning everyone.

Exciting news: we're having a DT call for the Colour Create Challenge. Do you fancy joining our fantastic design team? If you love to create projects (any kind of projects) that are based around a colour theme, just click here for the details. This DT call is open world wide and we'll be choosing the lucky people after 6 p.m. on 19th May.

It's a sad day too because our wonderfully talented Deanne has to step down from the design team because she feels that she can't commit time to it. Deanne has such an amazing style and she leaves a really big hole in our DT. We're so sorry to see her go. She's been an amazing colleague as has wow-ed us with her wonderful creations week after week. Thank you so much Deanne for blessing us with your talent. We wish you all the best for the future and hope that you won't be a stranger to us when things calm down.

We also have more exciting news. Our teamie Di has made it into rubber! Congratulations Di. (Hope she still talks to me when she's famous. lol) I'm so excited because the Pixie Cottage has commissioned some of Di's images for rubber stamp format and I'm really hoping that a couple of them are winging their way across the Atlantic to me at the moment. A copy of the first set of Di's stamps are on offer as the prize for this colour create challenge.

Okay, I'd better get to my card. Deanne picked the fab combination and optional extra this week. She chose the colours KHAKI, AQUA, CHOCOLATE and CREAM with the optional extra of CIRCLES. I was really looking forward to using these ...... but because my craft room was in such a mess, I couldn't find any aqua! grrrrr! I knew I had some somewhere. Anyway, I went with a light blue because that was the closest colour I could find.

I spent the whole of yesterday tidying my craft room and guess what? I found aqua galore!

Never mind. I'm really pleased with the way the image turned out. Thanks Artish for a fantastic image! Barnie is such a joy to colour up. This time I tried to get the light behind him and I think it worked.

This card is for my hubby from his grand children. They call him 'Pops' so it is nice to personalise it.

I'm entering it into the following challenges:

Corrosive Challenge - Celebrations (a birthday celebration for my hubby)

Sweet Stampin' Challenge - It's summer time

Craft Catz - Spots (you'll find them in the backing paper)

(EDITED) I forgot to mention that as well as offering a set of Di's stamps as a prize for the Colour Create Challenge, Michelle is also offering a 10% discount on her store for our blog readers. So, hop on over to the blog to take a look at the awesome creations from our fab design team and check out the code for the 10% discount too!

Thanks for looking,

Whimsy Digital Release Challenge and Hop

Whimsy stamps have a new digital release and all the stamps are now available to buy in the store. To celebrate the release, the design team have been split into 2. Half will host a challenge and the other half have a blog hop. I'm doing the challenge this time around but if you'd like to join the blog hop, please CLICK HERE.

The challenge can be found on the Whimsy Inspirations Blog and today it is a Recipe Challenge.

The recipe is: markers, papers, flowers, and a Whimsy digital image.

There are 6 new images in the digi collection and I've used two of them today. These are both from our new designer, Melanie of Meljen Designs and they are aptly named Granny Woolf and Red Riding Hood. I think they look fantastic when they are coloured up.

Anne has provided 9 new sentiment sets and again I've used a sentiment that goes with each of the images. I'm afraid that Grandma's nose is covering the 'h' in the little gift bag sentiment in the close up below.

There are also 2 new designs from Crissy Armstrong (I gave you a sneak peek at one of those on Monday) and a new Emma image from Kevin.

Okay, the great news is that Whimsy plan to hold releases on the first of each month starting in June.

Hope you'll all find the time to join in with the challenge and have a hop around with the other half of the DT.

Make your own charm?

Well, I went out of my comfort zone on this card. But if you know me, you know that I relish leaving the comfort zone behind and just leaping in with something new or different. This one had me scratching my head though, but the light bulb clicked when I settled on the image I was going to use.

It's Pixie Cottage challenge time and as usual we have a sketch and a theme. The theme is to make your own charm. I've used both the sketch and the theme on my card.

When I looked at the Baby Blake image I thought it'd be fun to make a charm that looked like a teething ring. So, after scattering papers and beads all over the place, I found the silver ring and some beach themed beads. Actually the beads are from a well known kiddies toy shop - and they are for children to make their own necklaces. Hey Ho! They did the trick and my teething ring charm was born.

I'm entering this into the One Stitch at a Time challenge - Childrens theme

I also got these little black safety pins in a recent craft buy and thought they would make a great nappy pin for this image. And best of all.......this time I've kept Baby Blake as a boy!

I hope you'll find time to pop over to the challenge blog to see what my other talented teamies have come up with. Their projects are just wonderful.

Don't forget to pop back later today for the new Whimsy digi release.

Thanks for looking,
Sharon xx

Sneak Peek - Gracie's Roses

25 years ago today I was the proudest mother of my first baby daughter. Oh my! The years have flown by. Now she is a beautiful woman and a mother herself. Happy Birthday Becky!

I'm not sharing her birthday card with you today. Instead I have a SNEAK PEEK!

On Wednesday 5th May there is a new release of Whimsy digital images - and I can tell you that they are all fantastic! I couldn't wait to make a card with one of the images so that you could all have a sneak peek.

This is Gracie; isn't she just THE most gorgeous little girl? The image is called Gracie's Roses by Crissy Armstrong. I've kept the card really simple and only added a hint of milled lavender colour to her dress so that you can see how beautiful the image is. I've also coloured her up in pink and also a deep red and she looks just as gorgeous in those colours too.

I'm entering this card into:

Incy Wincy challenge - Anything Goes

The Pink Elephant - Mommy, I love you

Please remember that Gracie isn't available yet, but you will be able to buy her on Wednesday. I hope you'll all be able to join the Whimsy DT on Wednesday for a fun challenge and blog hop too, but in the meantime, keep your eyes on the Whimsy DT's blogs for more sneak peeks!

Thanks for looking and happy crafting!

Sharon xx
