Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot!

This is one H.O.T. card today with it's bright summery colours. Just reminds me of the song... Feeling Hot Hot Hot! (and I have been this week - been running a temperature for 3 days). That means I need to make this card count as it's the only card I made last weekend and I haven't felt up to doing anything so far this week.

So, lots of challenges to enter it into:

This is my Colour Create DT card for the fantastic combination picked by Victoria of HOT PINK, WARM ORANGE and SAFFRON with the optional extra of BUTTERFLIES. Wowzers! What a gorgeous combination.

Items used:
Lilac Lemon Designs - Art Deco Bride/Flapper Stamp (I LOVE these stamps - thanks for bringing them to us Beckie)
Basic Grey (the matted paper) I stupidly put the pad away with all my other Basic Grey pads but I think it was from Ambrosia - distressed with Mustard Seed.

Please take a look at the amazing cards the DT have made with this combination - they are glorious!

Time For Tea

I'm back to making my own backgrounds again. This time with just 2 ink pads: Dusty Concord and Tumbled Glass (what a pretty colour that is!). Yep, I'm also back with one of my favourite colour combinations too. You can see the background in all its glory further down the post.

This card is for the One Stop Craft Challenge where Lisa has given us a fantastic sketch this week with an extra of using something metal. Thanks so much Lisa; I really enjoyed using this one. I've used metal on the fab ornate brads (they are gorgeous).

I'm also entering this into the following challenges:

The Stamp Man - Anything Goes
Papertake - Cutie Patootie
Mami Doodles - Anything Goes
Crafty Creations - Happy or Sweet
One Stitch At A Time - Digi Madness
Stampin' B's - Use a background stamp (I used 3) One Stop is sponsored by Tiffany Doodles this week and I've used their fantastic teapot on this card. She is sooooo cute! This digi also comes with a tea cup and 2 sentiments - great value for money!

Okay on to the background. I used white linen card as the base. Then I randomly added tumbled glass and dusky concorde ink using a blending pad. Next I liberally splashed on water to get the big water dot effect (love that!). The I used 2 of the stamps from the My Minds Eye Wild Asparagus range (swirly one and the text script) and inked them in Tumbled Glass. The final background stamp I used was from the same set - the crackle effect inked in dusky concord. And this was the result.

Seems a shame to cover it up really, doesn't it?

Items Used:
Tiffany Doodle Digi - Teapot and Teacup
My Minds Eye - Wild Asparagus Clear Stamps
Distress Inks: Tumbled Glass and Dusky Concorde
Crystal Stickles
Stars cut from the Sizzix Swirls and Curls Alphabet set
Magnolia Rose
3mm pearls
Making Memories Lacy Brads in Antique Silver
Please have a look at the gorgeous designs by the rest of the One Stop talented design team.

Hannah with Parchment embellishments

I was playing with parchment over the weekend and I thought I would try to make some embellishments with it. I like the way these turned out because they look so delicate and pretty. I've made flowers, leaves and a 'ribbon'.
This card is my DT card for The Pixie cottage. I've used the fantastic sketch and the optional extra this week is 'Double Up' which means you can use two stamps. I've used the brand new Hannah stamp - isn't she fab!
I'm entering this into the following challenges:
Allsorts Challenge - Summer Days
Crafty Ann's - Summer Holiday
KL Stamping - Ribbons (Do my home made parchment ribbons count?)
Pollycraft - Birthday
Stamptacular - Ice Cream (My favourite is raspberry ripple with chocolate sauce (the tree trunk) and a sprig of mint!)

I actually used 6 stamps on my card - so I doubled up three times over! There is the fantastic new Sandra Hammer image of Hannah on a swing (available to purchase here soon), a sentiment, and 2 flower & 2 leaf stamps on the parchment.
I made the ribbon with a bit of pergamano pricking along the edges of some parchment strips. and snipping a wiggly edge, embossed some dots and finished them off with some 3mm pearls.
Hope you like it, and don't forget to head over to the Pixie Cottage challenge for more inspiration an a guest appearance by JayJay. Remember the blog candy (the stamp I've used today) when you're on the challenge site - there's a link on the sidebar.

Art Deco Anniversary

My card today is all pink and black and white - well, it started out that way at least. I bought some fab Lilac Lemon designs Art Deco stamps from Crafts and Me recently, and when I saw they had a pink and black and white challenge, I had to enter it. The close-up on the image shows the glorious crystal stickles (still in love with those) and it also show the paper pricking that I did using a new Papermania stencil (that took ages to do!).

So, that's how the card started. Then I thought it needed more black, so I punched a border with my Martha Stewart punch and made a frame for the card. Next came the flowers woven into punched edges.

Then I thought...add some leaves - so I picked up a pack of Prima leaves and dotted them about.
Hmmm...not sure if I overdid it there. What do you think?

I'm entering this into the following challenges:
Crafts and Me - Pink Black and white
Frosted Designs (Yoo Hoo girls!) - border punches
Pals Paper Arts - Wedding themed
Stampin' Royalty - Stencil fun (the pricking stencil - that took ages!)
Crafty Cardmakers - Easel Cards

I've fallen in love! Not only do I adore this image, but my favourite Crystal stickles have been overtaken with the Stardust variety. Stardust stays so white when you apply it. I've also used another favourite on this card...Spun Sugar distress ink.

You know it's the right thing to do to send her a card so she knows the love that's out here for her in the crafting community. Get well soon Michell and we hope your cards will be appearing again as soon as you are ready.

An Acetate Aperture Card

I really hope the scheduling for this card post works because it'll probably be around midnight when I get home from work tonight. That's two weeks in a row I've had to work late because we're putting new computer systems live at work. Never mind. Today, the Pixie Cottage challenge is a sketch and/or an aperture card. I really wanted to use both on my card and I thought the best way to do that was to make it an acetate front with the aperture in it. Not easy to photograph but I think these photos show it pretty well. I stickled the acetate around the edges and around the aperture so that it could be seen better.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:

A Pocket Full of Posies - One For The Girls

Prairie Fairy - Anything Goes

Crafty Cardmarkers - Inky Fingers

Oh La La - Simply Summer

Items used on the image:
Brayered background - Big n Juicy pad -Waterfall
Distress inks: Spun Sugar, Antique Linen, Tattered Rose, Weathered Wood
Crystal Stickles
3d gloss
3mm blue gems

The girls at the Pixie Cottage have made some fantastic creations again today. It's well worth the visit to the challenge blog. Hope you get time to join us.

A card - and I've been featured TWICE!!

Woo Hoo!!!! Oh my goodness! What a day it has been.
Today, my Colour Create DT Card for the current challenge has made it into the 50 Brilliant Birthday Card Designs at dotcomgiftshop. Not only that, but I was also featured a while ago (on 2nd June) in their 50 more Superb Craft Blogs. (Click on the links if you'd like to read about them)

So, to celebrate, here is a card that I made a few weeks ago, but hadn't got round to posting on this blog.....and it just so happens to fit some challenges:

Sweet Pea Stampers - Red, White and Blue

Secret Crafter - Water (the background)

My Time To Craft - Zig Zags (the lace)

This image was such a joy to colour.

Blue Rose Tattoo - in Purples

I don't normally post a card on a Sunday, but as it has been a couple of days since my last card, I thought I'd share this one with you.

I'm entering it into the following challenges:
Sketch Saturday - the sketch
Creative Card Crew - Easel Card
Stamping Royalty - Seeing Doubles (the two flower combos are the same)
Sweet Stampin - Pearls and Pins
Stamp Magic - Friendship
A Pocket Full of Posies - One For the Girls
Yet another Sweet Pea image - this one is called Blue Rose Tatoo. I've coloured it up with a mix of distress ink, Promarkers and Smooch inks. I love the way the smooch in gives a beautiful pearly sheen, but that is really hard to pick up in a photo.

The papers are Basic Grey Wisteria. I've used Mark Richards 3mm pearls; I also made my own pins for this card. The sentiment stamp is a Teresa Collins one called True Friendship. There are crystal stickles on the card too.

Sharon xx
