Pumpkins and Spiders

A fun card for you today featuring the cute Pumpkin Molly by Eileen Gutierrez. She's a little sweetie, Molly that is - but I'm sure Eileen is a sweetie too.

This is my DT card for the Pixie Cottage challenge where we are joined by the fabulous Aud Nordheim. She's given us a fantastic sketch (which I took an enormous liberty with in the shape of a mega spiders web) and the other part of the challenge is to use ORANGE. Remember you can use the sketch and Orange, or just the sketch or just orange to be eligible to enter the challenge.

I have a long list of challenges to enter this into:

Craftalicious - Harvest Festival/Autumn
Creative Stamp Friends - Autumn
Drunken Stampers - Salute to fall
Incy Wincy - Anything Goes
Little Paper Shop - Let's Get Fall Colour Challenged
Make It Crafty - Anything Goes Fun Challenge
MelJens Designs - Autumn Colours
One Stitch At A Time - Anything Goes
Paper Garden Projects 4th Friday - Halloween

Speedy The Cat's Challenge - A Pumpkin
Stamp Something - Fall Colours
Stampin For The Weekend - Tag It!
Stamptacular - Seasons Change - Fall Colours

Hope you can join us this week and the fantastic Pixie DT cards can be seen here. While you're on the Pixie blog, do scroll down and take a look at the fab stamps that 9 year old Sienna has created. All the proceeds will be donated to children with Autism, at Sienna's request.

Truly Scrumptious

I got that call again on Friday night....'Mum, I need a card for tomorrow'. Of course, the millions of cards that I have stashed away are never quite what they want. (Okay, maybe 'millions' is a slight exaggeration). So I made this card. I decided to use the sketch at Truly Scrumptious challenge and as I was still in a blue and white mood, adding a couple of green leaves made it fit their 'blue and green should never be seen' theme.

I'm entering this card into:

Truly Scrumptious - The Sketch and Blue and Green should never be seen (just a little green in the leaves)
Tellen's Place - Bring on the Bling (Stickles & Glamour dust - everywhere)
Crazy 4 Challenges - Bling (Stickles & Glamour dust - everywhere)
One Stitch At A Time - Anything Goes
Challenge Up Your Life - Lace and Pearls (the lace is below the ribbon)

Did I do Clean and Simple?

Hello everyone. Well, you could 'knock me over with a feather' as the saying goes; I believe I've actually made some CAS style cards! I got so inspired by the amazing creations that the uber-talented Sarita posted last weekend that I thought I'd have a go myself. Thanks so much for the inspiration (and layout) Sarita; I know my cards aren't up to your standards but I really enjoyed making these.
Now, I'm being really cheeky. It's not my turn to do a DT card for the One Stop Challenge this week; but as the theme that Suzi picked is September Snowflakes I thought I'd add my cards in with the other DT team cards.

I'm also entering these into:
Charisma Cardz - Anything goes
Ai Factory - Anything Goes
Just Add Ink - would you believe their sketch fits these cards?
Ooh La La Challenge - Sentiment (every card has a different sentiment)
A spoonfull of sugar - Anything goes
Allsorts Challenge - Plain and Simple

As you can see - I really got carried away. There are 12 of the cards I made in this photo and every one of them has a different sentiment.

I hope you'll join in the snowflake fun at the One Stop Craft Challenge this week. Please take a look at the fab cards made by the design team.

Pixie Cottage Benefit - Autism

Just thought I'd pop on and let you all know that The Pixie Cottage has a new, budding young artist (9 year old Sienna) who has dedicated her time and art to raise money for Autism.
Two of sienna's beautiful drawings have been made into rubber stamps and Sienna has chosen for all the proceeds of the sale of these stamps to benefit children with Autism.
You can read more and see the stamps by clicking here.
Well done Sienna! I'm sure we'll be seeing more of your work in the future.

A splash of colour

Two cards in two days? Well, that makes a change - I seem to have slowed down in the number of cards I'm posting recently. I may even have another card to post this week - if I can just get a decent picture of it.

Today's card is for the Colour Create challenge where the fantastic Sharon L has given us an ALL WHITE colour theme with an optional extra of EMBOSSING. I love making these cards because they put all the attention on the image and there is so much dimension and texture added to an all white card.

There are a couple of shots because this is an easel card. Here it is closed up.
I'm also entering this card into the following challenges:

Incy Wincy - All White except the image
A Spoonfull of sugar - Anything goes
Simon Says Stamp - a Sketch by JayJay (loosely based on the sketch)
Stamp Something - September Digi Day
Secret Crafter - Anything Goes
Digital Tuesday - It's all about girls plus a digi
Corrosive Challenge - Clean up the dust (the dusty Leone Em stamen punch)
Polkadoodles - Embossing
Crafts and Me - Easel cards

Here is a close-up of the sentiment which I heat embossed in opaque white. It actually shows up really well in real life.

The image I used is one by the sponsor of the Colour Create Challenge, Sassy Studio Designs, and it is called Chrissy's Prom. Isn't she an elegant beauty! She's been coloured up with Victorian Velvet distress ink for her dress, Antique Linen and Tattered Rose for the skin and then I switched to promarkers for her hair. The splash of glamour dust on her gown really spritzed the image up beautifully.

Please ogle and drool at the amazing creations by the rest of the talented CC design team (it is such an honour to work with those talented ladies!). And I do hope that you'll all have a go and join in the challenge with us.

Mellow Fruitfulness

'Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness'

- now that takes me back! I studied the English Romantic poets for my English Literature exams when I was 16 years old, and John Keats' Ode To Autumn was one of the selected texts. I still know that poem off by heart, even after all these years. Why am I rambling on about this? Well, the theme today at the Pixie Cottage Challenge is

Mellow Fruitfulness

....and you can't put those 2 words together without me thinking of the poem.

However, I think I got a bit carried away with the 'season of mists' on my card and I do admit that the card didn't quite materialise the way I'd pictured it in my head! It's certainly a bit different. I tried to depict a mistiness with the image and the autumn colours of misty greys & pink with the mellow orange on the background.

Of course, there is also a sketch to follow too at the pixie cottage if the 'mellow fruitfulness' doesn't inspire you.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:

365 Cards - Day 196 - Country Charm
Allsorts Challenge - Colours of Autumn
Ann's Creative Nook - Scallops or squares
Creative Card Crew - Autumn or Fall
The Gingerloft - Anything Goes
Paperplay Challenges - Autumn is a comin'
Pollycraft - Autumn Colours
Scrappekammeret - Anything Goes
Stamp Magic - Autumn Colours
Tellens Place - Anything Goes
Timbroscrapmania - Anything Goes
Wee Memories - Fall Inspiration

Items Used:

Stamps: Spooky tree background and the apple barrel from Apple Hannah
The misty vines on the background are a stamp from Clarity Stamps.
Coloured with distress inks
Stickles - Stardust
Cuttlebug embossing folder - Victoria
Prima 3-line pearls

My wonderful team mates at the Pixie Cottage have made some gorgeous cards with apples and pumpkins - really showing the mellow fruitfulness of Autumn. I hope you'll take a look at them and join us in the challenge this week.

Stamp Something GD - Special Delivery

Well, this is an honour. Today I've made a card as a guest designer for the Stamp Something Challenge. Woo Hoo! The only trouble is, I love entering this challenge and I'll have to sit out this week. Never mind, it'll be fantastic to see one of my cards up with their amazing DT entries.

Today the Pixie Cottage are sponsoring Stamp Something. The challenge is to use

Spots and Stripes

on your creations. I always think that spots and stripes really suit baby cards, so this new digital stamp from the Pixie Cottage, called Special Delivery was the first thing I headed for. I really wanted to make a gift bag to go with this, but time just hasn't been on my side this week.

I'm also entering this into the following challenges:
Twisted Thursday - Critters and Spots and Dots
Incy Wincy - Celebrate
Digital Tuesday - Dots and Stripes
Ooh La La - Stripes
Allsorts Challenge - New Beginnings
Sketch and Stash - the sketch and new digi stamp
Cowgirl Sunday - Anything Goes

Items used:
Image: Special Delivery
Papers: Bearly Mine CD
Sentiment: Computer generated
Charm: Whimsy Stamps
Distress ink: Storm
Stickles: Stardust (of course!)
Papermania Brads
Coloured with Promarkers
Ribbon, thread and stars from my stash.

Winterberry Christmas

Good morning everyone. Oh WOW! Do we have a fantastic colour combination for you over at the Colour Create Challenge today. I LOVED using these colours and I know that a lot of my cards for Christmas this year will feature these colours now. Well, the past two years have been completely non-traditional colours for me, so this year I want to go a bit traditional.

The colours as picked by our fab LIZ are:

RED, GOLD and either WHITE or CREAM (I actually used all 4 colours on this card)

The optional extra is CHRISTMAS or ORIENTAL.

I'm also entering this into the following challenges:

Sketchy Colours - the Sketch
Crafty Catz - Recipe 321, 3 embellishments (snowflakes, gems and ribbon), 2 papers (2 red papers) 1 Image
Sweet Stampin - Winter Wonderland
Crafts and Me - Gems and sparkle (lots of sparkle on the image)
The Creative Cottage - Celebrations
My Time To Craft - Jewelled
Stamping Sisters In Christ - Water (I picked the frozen variety of water in the snowflakes)

Items Used:
Image: Sweet Pea stamp - Winterberry
Snowflake paper - made by heat embossing snowflake stamps in opaque white and pirate gold
Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder
Stickles - Stardust
Coloured with promarkers

There is a fantastic prize of USD 19.99 for the winner of this Colour Create Challenge and it can be used in Michelle's Scrapbooking store to purchase one of the new Spellbinder's dies or anything else up to that value. Thank you so much for offering that as a prize Michelle.

The amazingly talented DT have created a feast for the eyes using the colour combo so I'd recommend heading over there to take a look.

To You From Us

Good Morning everyone. Are you ready for another Pixie Cottage Challenge? I loved the sketch and theme for this weeks challenge and has a lot of fun making my card. The sketch was a dream to use and the them this week is 'Furry Friends. Remember that you can use one, the other or both of those to enter the challenge.

I suppose I had more fun making this card because at long last I'm able to 'cheat' again. Yes, my new sewing machine arrived so no more stitching by hand (for a while at least). I can't believe how quiet my new machine is; the old one used to clatter and rattle like crazy! It'll take me a while to work up to using some of the fancy stitches so I'll stick with plain and zigzag for now.

I'm entering this week's card into the following challenges:

A pocket Full of Posies - Floral Fantasy
A spoonfull of sugar - Animal Crackers
Cowgirl Sunday Challenge - Anything Goes
Frosted Designs - Photo Challenge (colours used, pink, blue, green, brown and flowers inspiration)
Gingerloft - Anything Goes
Paperplay Challenge - In Stitches
Paper Romance - Furry Friends
Stamp Something - Something Cute
Stampin' for the weekend - Shabby or Vintage
Twisted Thursday - Animals

Items used:
Pixie Cottage Stamp: To you from us by Di Carubia
Papers: Papermania, Rose Garden
Handmade papers
Flowers: Prima e-line and prima fancies
Prima e-line pearls
Walnut Stain distress ink
Stickles - stardust

Don't forget, the Pixie Cottage DT call is still running!!!

There's also some majorly fab new digi images in the store

Please take a look at the fab creations by the rest of the DT and I hope you'll be able to join in the challenge.

Parchment Butterfly

Before I get to my project for today, I have to say a big thanks to Rosie D's challenge for selecting my card as the winner of their final challenge. It's so sad to see a challenge shut down. The DT girls work really hard behind the scenes so I send them a big thanks for their work and inspiration too, and wish them luck in whatever they do next.

Right, onto today's project. This is my DT card for the One Stop Craft Challenge where the wonderful Cat picked the them this week. She's given a beautiful inspiration photo of a butterfly and a caterpillar. The inspiration I took was from the photograph layout.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp - Pearls & Lace
Prairie Fairy - Pearls & Lace
Pals Paper Arts - Pretty in Pearls
Paperplay Challenge - In Stitches
Stampin' B's - Use a charm
A Pocket Full Of Posies - Winged Things
Pollycraft - add a little nature to your card
Crafty Cardmakers - spotlight challenge: Glitter & Sparkle
My Time To Craft - In the garden

There is a moving story behind the pictures that really touched me (not sure if that will appear on the challenge), so I put in an extra special effort and spent some time creating a pergamano butterfly from parchment paper. This card has so much dimension so I've taken a close-up of the butterfly to show it.

One of my DT colleagues wanted me to post some info on how I made the butterfly, but I'll have to do that another day. I will make another one and photograph each layer so that you can see the patterns on each bit.

Items used:
Brazil Basics card
Martha Stewart Punch,
Parchment Paper and pergamano tools
Silver Stickles
Butterfly Charm, Lace, Ribbon and pearl sprays from my stash.

I hope you'll get time to take a look at the dreamy projects the rest of the talented DT have made.

Big Sister

I have been really busy recently. Family visiting, children moving houses, over 50 Christmas cards made. I suppose it's about time I concentrated on doing the housework. Hmmm...Nah! I'd rather make some more cards any day. ;o)

This is my DT card for the Pixie Cottage where I've used the fab sketch and the theme of 'Family'. It's one of the first 8" x 8" cards I've made and I really like this bigger size. I've made this card for my two grandchildren to give to their big half-sister when it is her birthday in November.

I'm also entering this into the following challenges:

Papertake - Just the one - one huge flower embellishment
Pollycraft - Add some nature to your card - The background stamp
Allsorts - Park inspiration - the background stamp
One Stitch at a time - Girly - the colours and the main image
Oh Alice - Little Girl Theme
Paper Cutz - use some type of metal - the charm
Bee Crafty - Anything Goes

Items Used:

Pixie Cottage Stamps Cassie and the Bench & Stump
Prima 4 seasons Velvet Leaves (Olive) - Pink and Lavender are still in stock
Prima Belle Fleur Daisy
Prima e-line pink pearls
Mark Richards white pearls
Coloured with ProMarkers
Papers: Do Crafts

Don't forget that the Pixie Cottage is running a DT call at the moment. And lots of the stamps are reduced in the store at the moment.
