Interruption in service

I have to apologise for the 'interruption in service' on this blog. I've not been very well and haven't accessed the web for days, so this post is a little late (it will also be a short one).

This was my DT card for the Pixie Cottage Challenge. There is a fantastic sketch that our guest designer Penny has made for us this week and the optional extra is to use metal on your creation. I've used one of the new digital stamps by ArTish called 'Blanco' in this creation. This was a dream to colour up.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:

Sketch Saturday - the sketch I used

Pixiedust Studio - Happy Halloween

The Corrosive Challenge - Halloween or Orange and Black

More Chocolates and a basket.

Well, this is my last scheduled post.....and as it pops up I should be coming in to land at Gatwick Airport. (boo hoo! the end of another fantastic holiday). Hopefully I'll be able to catch up with what has been going on for the last two weeks when I arrive home.

Today it was my choice over at the Colour Create Challenge and true to form, I've picked one of my favourite combinations. Purple, Aqua and White. The optional extra I picked was swirls. Oh boy! Have the DT done me proud or what? Their creations with this colour combo are the most gorgeous ones I've seen for ages.

I've made a christmas basket and a card to go with it. The basket is a template from Waltzing Mouse designs. I used Anna Griffin Swirls and DoCrafts Joyeaux Noel bauble stamps. I kept the design really simple so that I could make a few of these cards as a standby at Chrismas.

I'm entering these makes into the following challenges:

Craftalicious - Anything Goes

If the Shoe Fits - Any Holiday

Inky Impressions - Anything Goes
One Stitch At A Time - Embelish It
Papercutz Challenge - Anything Goes
Tuesday Throwdown - Anything Goes

Please hop over to the Colour Create Challenge blog to see the amazing cards made by my wonderful teamies.

Treats in acetate

Instead of a card, I thought I'd make a little treat bag in acetate for today's Pixie Cottage DT item. These are so sweet and perfect for little treats at halloween. The challenge at the Pixie Cottage this week is a Sketch and/or Something Sweet.
My little acetate bag was made using the 2-5-7-9 bag instructions over at splitcoast stampers; I just thought it would suit an acetate bag so I tried it out. It really shows the rosy apple trick or treat sweets up. For the image I used the barrel of apples from the apple bench stamp and just shaded it in pencil for a change. I love to show that you don't always have to use the full stamp when making a creation, and it doesn't always have to be coloured either.

I'm entering this into:
Baby Bud Designs - Halloween (It's their first challenge!)
Craftalicious - Anything Goes
Crazy Challenge - Halloween
Creative Cottage - Halloween
Double Dutch - Halloween
Frosted Designs - Halloween/Fall Layout
Inky Impressions - Anything Goes
Stamp Something - Halloween Somethings
Stamp With Fun - Halloween
Stampin Royalty- Halloween
Stamping Vacation - Halloween
Tellen's Place - Trick or Treat
Tuesday Throwdown - Anything Goes

Please take a look at all the other sweet creations that the fab Pixies have made this week.

A Romantic, Altered Chipboard Book

Now, this is stepping outside things that I normally do. Altering a chipboard book? haven't done that before. Actually, this is only the start because I've had the chipboard book (from Prima) lying around for a while but just didn't find time to start painting and decorating it. I've only created the on, cover page at the moment; so it is a work in progress.

What made me decide to take the plunge? Well, the fantastic Carrie set the theme of 'Alter It!' over at the One Stop Craft Challenge. Once again, it isn't actually my turn to make a DT item but how could I resist?

The basic chipboard is painted with white acrylic and then I wiped over it ith spun sugar and Victorian velvet distress inks. The edges have a little Walnut stain added to them.

Then I glimmer misted the whole lot as if my life depended on it!!!!

I stamped a frame for the image in embossed gold and then distressed and glimmer misted like mad once again.

After placing the photo and the frame I arranged all the flowers and leaves putting some pearl sprays and ribbons in amongst them. The pink glittered flowers are Prima Fancies - they are gorgeous! Then I dotted tiny 3mm pearls here and there.

The final bits were all the fibres and ribbons holding the book together.

Actually, I'm really pleased with this. It looks so pretty in real life. Hmmm...have I started something here? Will I be creating lots of pages now? Probably not; I'm going to take my time over this book. Maybe I'll try to do a page a month, who knows.

Please take a look at what the fab OSCC DT have altered. I hadn't seen any of their items before I left on holiday, but I bet there are some gorgeous things that they've made.

We Three Kings - and a card

How is everyone? Keeping well I hope. This is another scheduled post and I've gone 3d! Actually, over the next few weeks there are a few non-card items that'll pop up. This set is for the Colour Create Challenge where our fantastic Mina has chosen the colours and theme for us this time. She picked:
PINK, GREEN and CREAM with an optional extra of FROSTED.
All my frosting is iridescent embossing powder and glamour dust....not sure the photos pick that up too well though. Aren't these cracker gift boxes superb? Best of all, they are a freebie template and so easy to make up. You should know that they are triangular boxes, not square ones, and they look even better for the triangular shape. You can find the templates over at Waltzing Mouse - here.

I teamed the boxes up with a simple little card. Well, quick and easy cards are always really handy when it comes to Christmas.

We're sponsored today by Michelle's Scrapbooking & More and she's given us some superb brand new stamps for the prize. Why not hop over to the challenge blog and take a look at them, and whilst you're there drool over the gorgeous makes that the talented DT have made.

Well, before I sign off, I have to say a very sad farewell to Karen. She has had to step down from the design team and boy, will I miss her! She's such an inspiration. Thank you so much for all the wonderful work you created for us Karen; hope you won't be a stranger to the challenge when things settle down a bit.

Well, I suppose I'd better be off for another day in the sun (I hope it's sunny where I am now!!)

Sharon xx

Fall Mice

Good morning everyone. Well, as this post pops up I should be all excited and at the airport ready to jet off on my holidays. I've so been looking forward to the relaxation that will bring. I have quite a few posts scheduled while I'm away, so I won't be completely missing from blogland.

Today's card is for the Pixie Cottage Challenge. There's a wonderful sketch and the other option this week is embossing. My card uses both. I think I was still enjoying making mainly white cards when this one was put together. I always think white cards pull the eye to the image, and this one is such a sweetie image. It's a digi image by Artish called 3 fall mice.

I'm going to enter this into the following challenges:

Stampin for the weekend - Autumn Colours - (autumn orange and grey for the misty days)
Sweet Stampin Challenge - Punch It Out!
Timbroscrapmania - Autumn Colours (autumn orange and grey for the misty days) Stamptacular - Layer it on

Items used:
Three Fall Mice digi image
Glitter Card
Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder
Swirls Cuttlebug folder
Sizzix swirls die
Hobbycraft flower punch
Leone Em stamens punch
Prima Pearls

I hope you'll take a look at the amazing items the DT has made this week. There's some new people on the design team and they are creating some gorgeous stuff.

Very Vintage Congratulations

Today I'm having a little bit of a change. I really felt like making a vintage card and I decided to go for a pyramage image instead of stamping. A lovely romantic old-fashioned image with pearl swirls, flowers, lace ribbon and pins. Just the ticket!

This is my DT card for One Stop Craft Challenge where today is the 100th challenge! Our fantastic Chrissie picked the appropriate theme of 'Congratulations' and boy, are there some brilliant types of congratulations cards the team came up with. You can see them HERE.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:
Challenge Up Your Life - Lace and Pearls
C.R.A.F.T. - Fancy Florals
Creative Card Crew - Bloomin' Marvellous
Frosted Designs - Get out those Books (the image reminds me of a Jane Austine heroine)
Incy Wincy - Anything Goes
Pixie Dust Studio - Swirly Swirls
Simon Says....It's Autumn Inspired by the browns in the photo
Stamp Something - Something to Celebrate

Hope your find time to join in the celebration challenge.
