Going Going....Gone!

Gone! That's what some of these stamps will be in 2 days time because 4 of the sets will be retired on 31st March. What a shame!! (If you like the images, I've added a link at the bottom of this post in my items used section). They are sold as Christmas Baubles sets but I hope I've shown some of the versatility of the images here.

There's less waffle and more pictures in today's post because I went a little OTT with the gorgeous colour pallet that our brilliant Julie gave us for the Colour Create Challenge theme this week. The colours are:

and the optional extra is BOWS.

The end result is that little lot of 6 cards.

These first 2 cards use images from the sets that are not being retired so you have plenty of time to pick these sets up if you like them.

The first card uses the "De Morgan Baubles Set" and I'm entering it into the Stamp n Doodle challenge = Embossing

This second uses the "Morris Baubles" set. This one is entered into Kaboodle Doodles - Circles and Squares, and Paper Creatons Ink - Things with wings

Now we move onto the sets that are being retired.
This one uses the "Klemscott Baubles"and it is entered into Sweet Stampin - Anything Goes

and the the fourth uses "Beardsley Baubles" . This is entered into Made Especially for You - Distressed Ink.

The 5th is"Mackintosh Baubles" A lovely Art Deco image. I'm entering this into The Ribbon Carousel - Anything Goes

And the final one is the "Klimt Baubles". This is entered into Partytime Tuesdays - Anything Goes

Items Used:
Stamps from
Chocolate Baroque (look in the Thrd of a Sheet - DL section)
Promarkers: Amythyst, Purple, Aubergine, Lemon, Pastel Green, Grass, Emerald, Lush Green
Distress Inks: Sage, Iced Spruce, Evergreen Bough
"Happy Birthday" Sentiments from Papertrey Ink
Papers: These were a win and I don't have the details of the pack they came from (sorry).

Hope you'll be able to join in with us at the Colour Create Challenge this time. The prize will be a 2 challenge Guest designer slot. Don't forget to peek at the beautiful creations from the rest of the design team while you are at the challenge blog.

Something Ripped or Torn

I've managed to stay vertical for a whole week. Woo Hoo! That might not mean much to you, but it's a big deal for me. Okay, I admit it, I haven't walked very far at all but who could blame me after getting 2 broken noses in a month and a few hurts elsewhere (hand/knees).

Erm, ... I said that wrong, didn't I? ....

I meant after falling and breaking my nose twice, in a month. If I'm not careful, the council will sue me for damage to their pavements!!!

Anyway, enough of my mishaps because that's NOT what the 'ripped or torn' in the post title is about. Let's get onto the 2 different cards that I have to show today.

It's Colour Create Challenge day and these are my DT makes. The challenge colours are:

The optional extra is:

I kept things simple again with pretty classic layouts. I was really pleased with how this first card turned out. Yep - still using up those scrap supplies; can you tell?

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:
Lollipop Crafts - White with a splash of colour
Creative Belli Blog - Clean and Simple
Papertake Weekly - One for the girls
Quirk Crafts - Circles, Flowers, Gems or Pearls for a special lady (Circles in the swiss dots, & the gem bling centre)

Here's a front view of the card

Vellum embossed with Swiss Dots embossing folder
Distress Ink: Weathered Wood
Dies: Memory Box- Amira Flourish, Tim Holtz Tattered Floral Garland, TH On the edge - Ornate and TH Autumn Gatherings
Bling (yes, I did straighten the wonky gem) :-)
Stamp: Docrafts, Whispers Words

Okay, here's my second card.

I made this when I was still feeling sorry for myself after the last bad fall. That must have swayed the sentiment that I used,eh?

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:
Sweet Stamps - Think Spring
Let's Ink It Up - Show us your flowers
Allsorts - Say it with flowers

Items used:
Stamps: Lavinia Stamps Nigela Damascena
Distress Inks: Broken China and Bundled Sage
Stickles. Organza ribbon, Scraps of card stock and an unmarked rubber stamp.

I hope you'll find time to join in the colour create challenge. There's a top-notch prize to be won and the DT have created some beautiful items with the colours.

Misty Floral Script - Lim 58

A one layer card with script on it; that is the challenge over at the Less is More challenge this week. Couldn't resist having a go at this one and the result surprised me because I set out to do something manly in red and black. How on earth I ended up with a soft and misty floral card is beyond me. I suppose sometimes you just have to 'go with the creative flow', eh?

This may look simple and really quick to make, but there were a couple of bits of masking necessary to achieve this look. The stamping was a little difficult as I have a poorly hand at the moment, and I had to sponge rather than distress with the lilac ink. But I like the misty effect this created. Not too sure about the symmetrical layout (doesn't seem exciting enough), but Hey Ho! that's the way it turned out.

Items used:
Stamps: Script is from Waltzing Mouse, Sentiment from Papertrey Ink, Flower was a challenge prize (sorry don't know the make)
Inks: Versa Color - 19 Cyan, 36 Heliotrope, 17 Violet
Watercolour pencils: Derwent - 30 Smalt Blue, 38 Kingfisher Blue, 1 Zinc Yellow, 2 Lemon Cadmium, 5 Deep Cadmium, 17 Pink Madder Lake

Huge thanks again for the comments on the cards I made for the last LIM challenge. When I visited your blogs to return the favour it was lovely to see all the gorgeous makes you all made.

Thanks for looking

A Cream Hat Trick

Hee Hee! I'm combining 3 recent LIM challenges in this card: Neutrals, Scraps, Die Cuts. That's a Hat trick, isn't it? (not good on sporting terms!)

Think I was on a roll again at the weekend. I was churning out the cards like there was no tomorrow and there are a few that I actually like. Today's card is one of those.

It must have been all the wonderful creations that I'd seen earlier in the week that inspired me because I ended up with a selection of CAS, Brayered and Distressed cards on Sunday evening. Thanks to everyone for the inspiration.

Hope the photos are okay - we had a snow shower just as I went to snap these!

This card is a variation on the 'white on white' cards; I just went for 'cream on cream' for a change. In part this is because I was sorting out neutral scraps (thanks to the LIM challenge) and the cream ones really caught my eye.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:
Less Is More - Neutrals
Craft Your Passion - Anything Goes
Lexi's Creations - Mother's Day
Lollipop Crafts - Clean and Simple
Love to Create - Monochromatic

Items used:
Shiny Cream Card - from my scrap bag (think it was Papermania)

Plain cream card - from The PaperMill
Dies: Memory Box "Prim Poppy", Cuttlebug Alphabet "Curls and Swirls"
Embossing Folder: Craft Concepts "Diamond Shadows" (a £1 bargain at the craft show - brilliant!)
Cream Satin Ribbon.

Right, that's my Mum's card sorted for this year. I'll have to dip out of any more Mother's day challenges (unless I get some orders).

Thanks again for all the marvellous comments. It warms the cockles of your heart!

Inspired by Shirley

And now for something a little different.

Whilst hopping around the blogs leaving comments last week, I came across this lovely card with butterflies by Shirley (Paper Creations by Shirley), and it really inspired me to get my distress inks out and have play with them. It seems such a long time since I made a card in this style and it was great fun. Thanks Shirley.

I thought it was time to ring the changes because I've made a few CAS cards recently, so I'm peppering the blog up with something a little different.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:
Rogue Redhead Designs - Use a stamped background
Phindy's Place - Distressing
Make it Colourful - Autumn Colours (the inspiration pictures are gorgeous and I think I captured the main colours)
Fun with Shapes and More - Self-made Paper
Crafty Catz - Punches and Dies

Items Used:
Distress Inks: Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint, Dried Marigold, Spiced Marmalade
Distress Stain: Picket Fence
Momento Ink
Stamps: Waltzing Mouse 'Text It', Clear stamp flourishes, Impression Obsession Clear stamps 'Flourishes', and a Crackle background (sorry I don't know the make as I bought it second hand)
Dies: Tim Holtz Tattered Floral Garland and the branch bits from Autumn Gatherings
Perfect Pearls mister - Bronze
Gold Liquid Pearls
Green square brads, Raffia and Ribbon from my stash

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I'm off to rescue (or probably re-make) a project that went wrong in the overnight drying process.

Thanks for looking,
Sharon xx

Shades of Black

...Penny Black that is. Couldn't resist having a play along with the Less is more challenge again this week. Today it's all about neutral colours and that gave me the chance to have a little play with some Penny Black stamps that I picked up recently.

And I'm still being good ladies - I'm using the last LIM challenge theme and picking bits out of my scrap bags to continue chipping away so that I can get them down to a manageable size. I made the topper out of scraps. I blinged the flowers on the topper with a little glamour dust but it isn't showing too well. I don't normally use cream and black, but I do like the way they complement each other.

Items used:
Penny Black transparent stamps: Allegro
Spellbinders Fleur-de-Lis squares
Momento Black ink
Dragonfly punch
Tiny bit of vellum for the dragonfly
Papermania Heart gems
Crystal Glamour Dust

A HUGE thank you to everyone that commented on my LIM makes last week. I think you've all helped me to pick up the craft tools again in earnest! I am deeply grateful for all your support.

Okay, I'm off to take a peek at the LIM entries this week and leave a bit of love.

Thanks so much for looking,
Sharon xx

Daisy Fields

Hello folks!
Well, I'm back with card Nos 3, 4 and 5 this week - all in this post and all are DT items too!

I think I'm finally starting to get back into the swing of things. I even have another card ready but no photo yet, so I'm hoping to snap a picture of it for a post tomorrow.

Firstly I'd like to identify the challenges I'm entering these cards into:
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes (Top card)
Tuesday Throwdown - Paper Tearing - (Middle card)
Stamp n doodle - embossing of any kind (music has heat embossing on middle card)
Less is more - Don't scrap it (Bottom Card - scrap yellow/orange paper)
Clear it out Challenge - Birthday card using up bling (bottom card)

I make that 3 cards, entry into 5 challenges (and my DT items for another)

Well, our amazing Mina has pulled a real corker this week! What a fantastic colour combination she's picked for the Colour Create Challenge:
Yellow, Grey and White or Cream with an optionl extra of flowers.
Mmmmm. Beautiful!

I did go a bit mad with this combo didn't I? All 3 of these cards uses a different balance of the colours, and all 3 are based around a single stamp. I love the way the stamp looks so different in each one.

The top card is brayered, the middle has the full image stamped singly and the bottom is different sections of the image.

This bottom card was a real find. When sorting through my scrap I came across several background papers that I'd created with my distress inks - and for some reason I'd just thown them in the scrap pile! Go figure! The yellow/orange paper on this one is one of those scraps.

Thanks for all the comments on my LIM entry earlier this week. I have returned the favour. As this post goes live while I'm getting ready for work I'll be back to comment later tonight.

Items used:
Adirondack Inks: Butterscotch, Pitch Black
Distress Inks: Black Soot, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed
Stamps: Penny Black- Daisy Filds
Some clarity stamps bull rushes and grasses stamps on the top card.
A peg stamp and Waltzing mouse musical backgrounds stamp on the middle one
A crackle stamp and
Waltzing Mouse Say it loud sentiment stamps on the bottom one.
Glamour Dust
Martha Stewart corner punch
Bling gems
Dagonfly embellishment
Grey & Yellow Ribbon

Please take a look at the wonderful items the Colour Create DT have created; it's well worth the trip.

Thanks so much for looking,
Sharon xx
